Damascus And The Rapture
“The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.” (Isaiah 17:1 KJV)
The following is from Ynet News (ynetnews.com):
Syria checks bomb shelters
Winds of war blow through Syria as country checks bomb shelters for first time since 1973 war......
The Syrian regime has set up a committee to look into the state of bomb shelters in various areas in Damascus and to prepare them "for any eventually.".........
It looks like someone over there has read Isa. 17:1

Dear Brother Keith: Developments on ground in Lebanon and the developments in the UN gives the conflict new twists. a) The Israeli Air Force (IAF) strkes in the Lebanon-Syrian border--rather the Beirut-Damascus highway, it is indicative of the Syrian resupply for the Hezbollah. Even as the resupply continues in conjunction with what the Syrian hot-head-Foreign Minister said that Syria would stand shoulder to shoulder with the Hezbollah--the writing on the wall is now ready. b) If Syria is inspecting its bomb-shelters, that means they are preparing or rather brazing themselves for a major showdown with Israel either in the Golon Heights or Mount Dov Shaba farms as a diversionary manevuer against Israel Defense Forces now in the height of their ground-air offensive in the Litani River and north of Litani River; An aerial show-down with Israeli Air Force attacking the Hezbollah positions in Bekaa Valley would repeat the overwhelming Israeli dominance over the Syrians as in 1982 "Operation Peace for Galilee". The "dumb" Syrian Air Force lost 80 MiG 21s, MiG 23s, MiG 25s, MiG 27s -a quarter of the Syrian Air Force to Israeli F-15s. F-16s and the E-2c Hawkeye Aerial Early Warning Control System that was high above the duelling jets to pin-point Syrian MiGs that were on ascent. The Syrians know that would be devastating yet their hot-headedness would prompt them to be aggressive, only to be pulverised by the Israelis who are now in superb battle tune. c) Should such a hot-headed maneuver be initiated by Syria--then they are heading for the possible showdown with Israel. The Syrians would taste dust and mud with the Israelis because Israel would easily pulverise them. Well the Russians may try to nose in--because of their presence in Syria but would know the consequences of doing that with Israel (The last time the Russians were butchered by the Israelis was in the War of Attrition 1969-70 in Egypt's war with Israel when Russion piloted MiG 21s, MiG23s were shot down in air-to-air dogfights with Israeli US supplied F-4 Phantoms; d) Yet another possibility would be the Syrian option to use their SCUD-Cs or even the SS-21s against Israeli air bases and military targets-- with either High explosives or chemical warheads that would certainly "escalate the conflict from rockets to Ballistic missiles". e) Ballistic Missiles once used would with Weapons of Mass Destruction would either be intercepted by Israeli Arrow Anti-Tactical Ballistic Missile System now in deployment around all Israeli military targets or Patriot Advanced Capability anti-missile systems or a possible Jericho II MRBM strike on Damascus. Well that brings us to Isaiah 17:,1 & 2 www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isa%2017:1,2;&version=9; But would it happen now or in a possible second round of conflict which the hot-headed Syrians, Iranians and Hezbollah would initiate in defiance of the so-called United Nations Force in Lebanon needs to be seen. The propects of the so-called UN force in Lebanon would be blown to smithreens by a Hezbollah that would be pushed farther north. Kofi Annan and his UN (rather the clowns in the UN) cannot stop the terrorists or Syrians or the Iranians. That would commence the second round of hostilities--lets see how this evolves.... The second round, if it happens would certainly see the omniscient Biblical Prophecy of "The Burden of Damascus" or "the Oracle concerning Damascus" to be fulfilled. WE NEED TO INTERCEDE FOR ISRAELI DEFENSE FORCES AS THEY CONDUCT THIS JOINT OPERATIONS SO THAT THEY HAVE OVERWHELMING VICTORY RESTRAIN THE POWERS OF DARKNESS IN KOFI ANNAN AND HIS UN ACCOMLICES AND THE RUSSIANS, SYRIANS, IRANIANS WHO ARE BACKING THE HEZBOLLAH. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE DO THIS INTERCESSORY PRAYER. BUT THE WRITING ON THE WALL INFORMS US UNEQUIVOCALLY THAT OUR HEAVENWARD ONE WAY TICKET IS NEARING CULMINATION. SHALOM, MARANATHA. LAWRENCE.

Amen Lawerence and thank you.
In Ezekiel...God told Ezekiel not to bother praying...God said this time He would not repent...the dye is cast...
Though the situation was a bit different...I think the message is the same...God will not repent this time...and the dye is cast...

JPost.com » Opinion » Op-Ed Contributors » Article Aug. 15, 2006 21:34 | Updated Aug. 16, 2006 3:18 Prepare for the next round By EFRAIM INBAR SUBDUING SYRIA is the key to managing the Lebanese crisis, to rolling back Hizbullah, and to weakening Iran and its radical Islamist influence in the Middle East. In order to attain victory in the next military engagement, Israel should target Damascus
The above in an excerpt from the article.
I don't think the writer of this article is saying to BOMB Damascus from the onset, but is using Damascus in the context of the country and its role in this crisis. But hey, you never know. But in any event, the big "D" keeps coming back to the forefront of the news and commentaries.
Brother Lawrence - do you know the author of this article? Sounds like you're both in the same line of work.
The writer is professor of political science at Bar-Ilan University in Israel and director of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies. (copied from JPOST article)
