The Parables in the Gospels:
Parable: A method of speech in which moral or religious truth is illustrated from common experience.
In the Parables of Jesus we find references made to all forms of everyday life.He used illustrations about plants, animals, minerals, the elements, man and the laws of nature.
THEIR PRIMARY INTERPRETATION: Jesus explained in 3 ways how to interpret His Parables. 1.Telling why He spoke in Parables. 2.Giving a Parable basic to all His Parables. 3.Showing how He interpreted His Parables.
WHY HE SPOKE IN PARABLES: Matt: 13:10-17 a.To reveal new truth to some. b.To veil the truth from others. (Concerning Israel and The Kingdom of Heaven)
GIVING A PARABLE BASIC TO ALL HIS PARABLES:(Mark 4:13,Matt.13:3-8) The parable of the sower taken in it's context (Matt.Chapts.1-13) shows how the Word of the Kingdom had come to Israel with poor reception.
HOW HE INTERPRETED HIS PARABLES:(Matt.13:24-30,36-43) The Parable of the wheat and tares shows the Son of Man sending forth His disciples and the devil sending his counterfeits, ending in a "weeding out"at the end of the age for the Kingdom of Heaven to prosper.
Basically the Parables of Jesus show different aspects of how the Kingdom of Heaven was offered to Israel in the King and rejected;offered in His disciples and rejected;but later to turn to Him their Redeemer,be restored and the Kingdom established.
Parables in Matt.13 1.Sower-Results of Our Lords preaching. 2.Wheat and tares-Children of Kingdom and Children of Devil grow together and weeded out at end of age. 3.Mustard seed and 4.Leaven-Kingdom hidden, revealed later date and grows. 5.Treasure and 6.Pearl-worth of the Kingdom to the Jew. 7.Dragnet-The weeding out of the wicked at the end of the age and Kingdom set up.

Thank you Bud! When asked the meaning of the word "Gospel", most Christians would tell you that it is the "good news" of Jesus Christ. How He came into the world to pay the penalty for the sin of mankind. How a person through faith can be delivered from the penalty of sin. This is good news! By simple faith in Christ a person is delivered from the penalty of sin which has implications which are both happy and eternal for the one who would believe. This is the gospel for the non-Christians. But what about the person who has salvation, the Christian? Where does he go from the cross? What "good news" does the Word of God have for him? Bud, you speak volumes in your post, brother. WoW! It's not wrong for a Christian to desire the approval of God. That desire in itself reflects the need of the born again child of God to have a close relationship with his Heavenly Father. It is wrong, if I may say so, when we seek to build that relationship with God on the basis of works that are motivated out of our own self interest and approbation lust. This system of performance of homespun righteousness will not impress God and the result will be emptiness of life. Dare I tell you what disappointed Christians will try to fill emptiness of life with? It doesn't take a lot of imagination. Paul will tell you. But there is good news for the Christian as Bud suggests in his post. God has provided for the regenerate man or woman the way to have a close and personal relationship with Him. Faith. Simple, non-meritorious faith. The same faith that God accepted when it was placed in His Son for eternal salvation. This is the same faith that God is looking for in Christians when we trust God to work sanctification in our lives by His Holy Spirit in us. This is the resting place, let the weary rest! This is the place of repose! This place of rest is God's provision for the believer and is entered by faith alone. This is the obedience of faith from which all good works will flow that are pleasing to God. There is no other way. Every Christian is faced with the choice of which path he will walk in life. Will he choose the path of 'I did it my way and besides God only helps those who help themselves'? Will he choose the path of "do and do, do and do" in order to impress God, yet in the end become wearisome, and lose all opportunity to reflect the glory of God in his life? Paul says that you do not have to go down this path at all. Praise God! The Gospel for Christians according to the Apostle Paul explains how the same faith in Christ which first introduced the indwelling Holy Spirit to you is the simple faith through which the Spirit guides, empowers or controls our daily lives. This is NOT the prosperity gospel of the seed begging breed on TV! THIS IS THE GRACE OF GOD IN THE GOSPEL FOR COPING, NAY, FOR VICTORY in the midst of the Devil's world. 'I, God, will do it. Will you trust Me?' Can it be true what the Apostle writes? That this very trust in God will lead to "the love of God being poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, Who was given to us" (Romans 5:5)? A believer’s hope, if it is centered in God and His promises, does not disappoint him. Through faith, God's power and His love will bring rest to our souls and glory to His name. May you choose the path of faith.... And thank YOU, Bud! -Brad The Gospels for the Christian It could be rightly said that it is the will of God for the Christian to see all scripture,as it is applied to himself, through the eyes of Paul. This makes it essential that we be thoroughly versed in the Pauline epistles if we are to receive spiritual truth from the pages of the other scriptures, the Gospels included. The Gospels are unique value to us in that they are Foundational to everything we are, have or ever hope to become.

Thank you Brad for that masterful explanation of our "Sanctification by Faith"that is seemingly untouchable by so many ministers from the pulpits because if they do they have to separate Law and Grace. Whether we like it or not,God chose the Apostle Paul to have the understanding of the "unsearchable riches of Christ"and to explain them to us.It is so easy to say "Jesus said it"so it must be more important and carry more weight. But ever word in the WORD is God's word. That's why I don't really care for a red letter Bible. "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son."Heb. 1:1-2 It is all the Word of God and needs to be Rightly Divided if we are to understand who we are in Christ, what He has done for us,what He wants to do now and what He will do with us future.

The Acts: 1.We have learned:In the Primary Interpretation of Scripture the rule of Contextual Consideration is the prime factor.Or,what is the obvious meaning of a text in relation to it's context,to it's book and to it's structural setting in the Bible as a whole?
2.We have learned:In the Practical Application of a Scripture the Christian is to approach the passage involved from his own position dispensationally.
The structural setting for Acts is Transitional.(Between Law and Grace and between Israel and the Church)
1. For the Primary Interpretation we approach Acts from the direction of the 4 Gospels.
2.For the Practical Application we approach Acts from the direction of the Epistles.
Acts is one of the easiest books in the Bible to read, but yet it is one of the most miss-understood book in the Bible. If we want to know why there are so many cults,so many divisions in the Church,so many problems separating the Church and Israel and so many problems separating Law and Grace, then most of the problem lies in the miss-interpretation of the book of Acts.
For the Primary Interpretation we need to keep in mind what we have read in the 4 Gospels. We need to get into the frame of mind of the Disciples. They were still looking for the Kingdom with Christ ruling on the earth. The Davidic throne being re-established.As far as they knew from the prophecy in Daniel of the Messiah being cut off,the next event would be the 70th week of Daniel and Christ would come back and set up the Kingdom.Everything that happened that we read about in Acts that was unusual(Holy Spirit coming, miracles, speaking in tongues, unusual judgements,Gentiles believing, etc)they would go to the O.T. and would see that it was prophesied. The Kingdom was still being offered to the Jews in the land and in the dispersion.
Then for the Practical Application we need to keep in mind who we are in Christ, the Church as a Body,Building And Bride of Christ,a parentheses hidden in God and not prophesied in the O.T. With this in mind we approach Acts with what we have read and learned about who we are in Christ from the epistles of Paul. With this in mind we can see the beginning of the Church in Acts through the eyes of the Apostle Paul. With this approach we can see that the Church of Jesus Christ came not out of Judaism, but out of Judaism's rejection of their rightful King and Kingdom.Rom.11:30 God is doing 2 things in Acts at the same time and the easiest way to see this is to sit down and read Acts once from the Primary Interpretation viewpoint from the direction of the Gospels and then read it again from the Practical Application viewpoint from the direction of the Epistles.

The Christian Church Epistles: Paul begin these letters approx. 16 years after his conversion (around A.D.36) and wrote for about 16 yrs.,until his death around A.D.68.
He Wrote: 1st and 2nd Thessalonians on his 2nd missionary journey from Corinth around A.D.52-53 Romans from Corinth on his 3rd missionary journey around A.D.57-58 1 Corinthians from Ephesus on his 3rd missionary journey around A.D.57-58 2 Corinthians from Macedonia on his 3rd missionary journey around A.D.57-58 Galatians from Corinth on his 3rd missionary journey around A.D.57-58 Ephesians,Philippians and Colossians from Rome during his first imprisonment around A.D.62-63
The 9 Christian Church Epistles make up that body of truth written to the churches and about the Church. Each one was a product of necessity at it's writing, yet they became the provision for "doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness"for the Church throughout it's age. For this reason Christians should be more thoroughly familiar with them than any other Scripture. They are a complete course of education in Christian faith, hope, love, life, conduct, prayer, service and reward. They have to do with our past, present and future;or basically with JUSTIFICATION,SANCTIFICATION and GLORIFICATION. They aren't arranged in our Bible in their chronological order but in their progressive order by Divine Providence. They fall naturally into a 3 fold grouping of a quartet,a trio and a duet: Romans,1Corinthians,2Corinthians and Galatians: Here the emphasis is on Living in Christ,Justification, the converted life, the salvaging of the spirit,Christ has come and gone,Christ and the Cross,Faith is strengthened.
Ephesians,Philippians and Colossians: Here the emphasis is on Christ living through us,Sanctification, the deeper life, the salvaging of the soul life, the Spirit of Christ has come and is here,Christ and the Church,Love is deepened.
1Thessalonians and 2Thessalonians: Here the emphasis is on living with Christ,Glorification, the future life, the salvaging of the body,Christ is coming again,Christ and the Coming,Hope is brightened.

The Pastoral Epistles:
In the transitional Acts of the Apostles we see that out of Israel's rejection of the Kingdom the Church was born.To this new people the remainder of the New Testament is given. The 9 Christian Church Epistles for her instruction and doctrine; The 9 Christian Additional Epistles for her exhortation. To the Church was also given Overseers and Ministers of the Word of God.It seems of Divine design that in between and connecting these 2 groups of Christian Epistles there is special instructions for those in Pastoral care of the Assemblies. Therefore,if there is any part of the Bible more than another that ministers of the Word should study it is these Pastoral Epistles. 1st Timothy: Probably written between Paul's imprisonments. A Charge: "Keep that which is committed to thy trust..."(6:20) Cf.Ch.1:3, 5, 18; 4:11; 5:7, 21; 6:13, 17
2nd Timothy:Written during Paul's 2nd imprisonment and just before His death. A Challenge: "Stir up the gift of God which is in thee..."(1:6) Cf.Ch. 1:3,13, 14; 2:1, 2, 3, 8; 2:14, 15, 16, 22-25; 3:14; 4:2, 5
Consider: "The Deposit"-1Tim.1:18;5:21;6:20; 2Tim.1:12,14;2:2 "The Faith" 1Tim.1:19; 3:9,13; 4:1,6; 5:8; 6:10, 12, 21;2Tim.3:8,15; 4:7 "The Doctrine"1Tim. 1:9,10; 4:6,13,16; 6:1,3; 2Tim.3:10 "The Teaching" 1Tim.3:2;5:17;2Tim. 2:2; 3:16; 4:2 "The Some" 1Tim.1:6,19; 5:15; 6:10,21 "The All" 2Tim. 1:15; 4:16
Titus:Probably written between Paul's imprisonments. A Caution: "Set things in order"(1:5)- elders, office, conduct. "Adorn the doctrine" (2:10)- older people, young people, servants. "Maintain good works"(3:8)- who we were;salvation;who we are.
Philemon:Written during Paul's 1st imprisonment about the same time he wrote Colossians. A Plea: Pen-portraits in relationships which serve as illustrations of the outworking into everyday life of the "good works"to be maintained in Titus and the "adorning of the doctrine" to "be guarded" and "proclaimed" in 1Timothy and 2Timothy.

The Christian Additional Epistles: As with the 9 Christian Church Epistles, these final 9 most naturally and rightly divide into a quartet,a trio and a duet.
A Quartet of Christian Hebrew Epistles: These have a distinctively Jewish flavor, with many quotations from the Old Testament scripture and references to Jewish history.Although they are for every Christian, they seem to have been written primarily to the Jewish Christians of the 1st century prior to the destruction of the temple in AD 70 and the dispersion that followed.
They were faced with a problem.Because of their Hebrew heritage, their zeal for the Law,the presence of the temple with it's Priests and cruel persecutions by the unbelieving Jews, the believing Jews were being persuaded to mix Jesus and Judaism or even to forsake Jesus and go back to Judaism. Thus, the need for a further Word from God of assurance and encouragement to go on farther with Jesus, growing in grace and knowledge of Him.
We Gentile Christians will receive more from these 4 Epistles and better understand them if we approach them in the occasion of their writing.
HEBREWS-"God...spake...unto the fathers...,hath...spoken unto us."(Ch.1:1-2 JAMES-"...to the 12 tribes which are scattered abroad."(Ch. 1:1) 1PETER-"...to the strangers scattered throughout..."(Ch.1:1) 2Peter-"...This second epistle,beloved,I now write unto you."(Ch.3:1)

A Trio of Christian General Epistles: Because of the contrastive lack of Old Testament quotations and references to Jewish history these must be termed General Epistles.Written by the Apostle John at least 20 years after the destruction of the Temple and to "Children of God,"who were not so tempted with going back to Judaism but into worldliness and the denying of the deity of Christ. These two problems were to hound the Church through it's entire history.
The analysis of these Epistles is a study in contrasts.
1John: Truth versus Error:"hereby we know..." Light vs. darkness; Father vs. world; Christ vs. antichrist; Good works vs. evil works; Spirit of God vs. spirit of error; Love vs. pretense; Born ones vs. others.
2John: Christian versus deceiver; "Children Walking in Truth"v.4 and "Deceivers going forth into the world."v.7
3John: Gaius versus Diotrephes "Fellow helpers to the Truth." v.8 Hindering the truth. Demetrius versus Diotrephes "Good report" Bad report

A Duet of Christian End-time Epistles:
As the Christian Hebrew Epistles were written primarily for the first century church and The General Epistles for the church age in general,it seems fitting that there be a special word from our Lord primarily for the end-time church.
JUDE: The theme is apostasy. The exhortation to "Contend for the faith," is more needful when apostasy is greatest (the end-time).(Cf. vs.17-18;1Tim. 4:1;2Tim. 3:1-5, 4:3-4)
THE REVELATION:I don't believe there is any doubt among any of us about Revelation being about the end-time,especially from Chapt's 4 thru 22.As the coming of the Lord draws nearer the interest in Revelation grows greater. There also appears to be a surge of interest in trying to discredit it and to discredit the ones that understand and teach the future events that are to happen that are taught in this book.Much of this discrediting, unfortunately comes from within Christendom itself. I believe in our time,(which I believe are the end-times) we have the God blessed ability to see and understand many things that are written in this book of Revelation that others down through the church age couldn't have understood and as time goes on others will understand even more clearer.
Concerning the Bible as a whole,I would like to Quote David Levy from an article of his in "Israel My Glory" and I quote: "The Bible is unique in it's history, message, universality, influence, fulfilled prophecies, preservation, power to change lives, and testimony throughout history.God's oversight and providence give us assurance that today we possess the verbal, inerrant and infallible Word of God.It stands alone as the most unique Book of all time. And it will stand forever."

Amen and Amen Bud and Brad! I have enjoyed and been blessed by your work here on this topic...You both write with such love and understanding, and I sure learned some good new thoughts!
Did you know: Psalm 118 is the middle chapter of the entire Bible? Psalm 117, before Psalm 118 is the shortest chapter in the Bible? Psalm 119, after Psalm 118 is the longest chapter in the Bible? The Bible has 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and 594 chapters after Psalm 118? If you add up all the chapters except Psalm 118, you get a total of 1188 chapters? 1188 or Psalm 118 verse 8 is the middle verse of the entire Bible? Should the central verse not have a fairly important message? "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man." - Psalm 118:8
Is this central verse not also the central theme of the entire Bible? This is not a coincidence. God is in complete control.
Chapter 119 of Psalms, the longest chapter of the Bible, which follows Psalm 118, the middle chapter of the Bible, is the only chapter in the Bible that has the entire Hebrew alphabet listed one letter at a time as a heading for each subsection of the chapter.

Quote from Mabzar"s post. And I hope that is your name that I read from Duck's post.
That post was very good and very interesting. It certainly proves that this is truly the Word of God.Man couldn't have written it if he had wanted to and wouldn't have written it if he could have.
Something else I read somewhere years ago about the "Physical center of the Bible." That it is Chapter 53 of Isaiah and the center of the chapter is verse 7 and the center of the verse is the word "Lamb."
Thanks for the kind words and I am humbled that you were blessed by the study.I have been praying about continuing on and maybe look at some structure of some individual books. We'll see how the Lord leads.

Romans: I believe this book is the most vital book for the Christian. It is here we get established in our perfect salvation. When we get established here NOTHING can move us.
The book is divided into 3 sections: 1.Chapts. 1-8 are doctrinal. 2.Chapts. 9-11 are national. 3.Chapts. 12-16 are practical.
After the introduction in Chapt. 1:1-17 Paul begins the doctrine of "Condemnation" in chapt.1:18-3:20. Here he brings the whole world on trial and everyone is found totally guilty and without excuse before God and can do nothing to remedy the situation in their own power.
In chapt. 3:21-5:11 we have the doctrine of "Justification".God has provided the remedy for "condemnation" through His Son on the cross. We are justified freely in Christ Jesus. Here we have the "Basis,"the "Means",and the "Results"of our "Justification".
In chapt.5:12-Chapt.8 we have the doctrine of "Sanctification",our life after we are Justified (Saved)We see the "Provision",the "Practice", the "Preventative" and the "Power" of our "Sanctification".Paul also goes into the doctrine of "Glorification"in Chapt. 8.
Then the question comes up (and every believer should ask this question) WHAT ABOUT ISRAEL.With this perfect salvation that has gone out to the whole world, what about all the promises made by God to the nation of Israel. Well Paul takes a "laying down rest" on the matter here in Chapts.9-11. Chapt.9 Israel's past. Chapt.10 Israel's present. Chapt.11 Israel's future. After these 3 chapters there should be no doubt that the promises made to Israel by God WILL BE FULFILLED WITH THAT NATION.
Then Chapters 12-16 deal with the Practical part of the Christian life. Chapt. 12 The Social aspect. Chapt. 13 The Civil aspect. Chapts. 14&15 The Mutual aspect. Chapt. 16 Greetings and Salutations
It's in this book that we will be rooted and grounded in our salvation.EVERY CHRISTIAN SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY GROUNDED IN ROMANS. Then we will be immovable in our understanding of our PERFECT SALVATION.

As the Lord may lead,we will attempt to look at the basic structure of some books of the Bible. And I emphasize very basic.Whether we will look at each book or not we'll see as we go along one day at a time. The beauty of God's creation is only exceeded by the beauty of His Word and it's perfect design.Only God could have created this universe and only God could have presented to us His perfect Word.
Genesis: ( "In the beginning.") In Genesis we see (Ruin and God's Sovereignty)
Genesis 1:1 IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH. If you can't believe that, there isn't any need in going any further. If you believe this verse, then you won't have any problem believing what is presented in this book and that it is the Word of God. Every doctrine in the Bible has it's foundation in Genesis. The origin of all creation, marriage of a man and a woman, sacredness of human being, why there is sin,why do we sin,why we have a choice, why we have a conscience, why we need redemption (salvation),why we wear clothes, why there is a curse on the earth, why there will be a new heaven and earth, why there is human government and laws, why there is 24 hour day and night,7 day week, years and months, diseases, sickness and pain, weeds in our gardens, why we work for our livings, seasons, rain and other weather conditions, why we eat animals, why a rainbow, why there are different languages, why there are different nations and all this just in the first 11 chapters.
It seems that the book of Genesis is divided into two parts.the first part has to do with 4 main events (Chapts. 1-11) and the second part with 4 main characters (Chapts. 12-50)
The 4 events: 1.The Creation: Chapt.1 thru chapt.2:3 The creation described in a 7 day period. Then in Chapt.2:4 thru Chapt 2:25 He goes back to about the middle of the week and gives more detail.
2.The Fall: Chapt.3 thru Chapt.6 The fall and all that resulted from it.
3.The Flood: Chapt.7 thru Chapt.10
4.The Tower of Babel:Chapt.11 The Tower of Babel judgement and then the genealogy to Abraham.
The 4 Main Characters: It is hard to divide the chapters with the characters because their lives overlap.
1.Abraham:A supernatural call and a life of faith. 2.Isaac: A supernatural birth and a life of sonship. 3.Jacob: A supernatural care and a life of service. 4.Joseph:A supernatural control and a life of suffering and glory.

EXODUS: ( "departure"or "way out" "exit.") In Genesis we see (Ruin and God's Sovereignty) In Exodus we see (Redemption and God's Power)
It seems in Exodus we can see 3 main movements of God.
I. Chapters 1-18
Bondage:
God's Deliverance
II. Chapters 19-24 The Law: Moral,Social, and Religious.
God's Justice and Righteousness.
III. Chapters 25-40
The Tabernacle: The Design: Chapters 25-31 The Delay: Chapters 32-34 The Completion: Chapters 35-40
God's Mercy and Grace
In Exodus we see that God has built a nation, from one family, the family of Jacob. From a mere 75 people to more than 2 million. It is through this nation that God was to reveal even more of Himself. He gave them the Law,which revealed His Holiness and Righteousness and the Tabernacle which revealed His Mercy and Grace.
The Law revealed man's total incapability of coming up to God's standard and man was totally condemned. The Tabernacle presented a picture of what God would do to redeem the human race from the curse of the Law that condemned it.
Message:Exodus-- Man's Redemption and God's Power

Deuteronomy: ( "Second Law"or "Repetition.") In Genesis we see (Ruin and God's Sovereignty) In Exodus we see (Redemption and God's Power) In Leviticus we see (Sanctification or Separation and God's Holiness) In Numbers we see (Guidance and Direction and God's Justice and Goodness) In Deuteronomy we see(Destination and God's Faithfulness)
In Deuteronomy we have A Charge by Moses to the new generation to go in and possess the Land.
Deut. 1:8 "Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them."
In this charge we see a Reminiscing and a Looking Forward.
In the Reminiscing from Chapt.1-11: Chapts.1-3 A Reminiscing of the wilderness journeying. Chapts. 4-11 A Reminiscing of the Law. 4:26-31 A sobering thought of what will happen to the nation and God's promise not to forget His promise.
