[glow=red,2,300]2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [/glow]
This is said by a man (Paul, isn't it?) who lived in some pretty dangerous times himself. What does this say about how dangerous it will be during the last days? Keifer's video (a very good one, by the way) about perilous times brings all this to mind.
Every step I take, I think of God. Got notice of a new IRS audit for 2006-2007 within 2 days after my father-in-law's funeral. I focus on God, because then I can sleep. My sister-in-law talks about how tight money is and then goes to hockey games and bars. I pray that God will guide me and protect me. Hubby has had a relapse of the farmer's lung he had several years ago. I pray for God's healing for all those I know. Mom-in-law is hurting; her spouse (Pop) died. I look to God for all my strengh and wisdom. A client wants surgery for her dog; the dog has a heart so bad that I am surprised the poor thing just doesn't collapse and die when it stands up.
I don't know what any of that has to do with perilous times except to show how I depend on God for everything. Also, all of this has happened within the last 2 weeks! Hubby and I have never had boring lives but things have really picked up lately.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video Vet, so thanks for the kind words.
Yes, when we trust in the Lord for everything we have something no one but He can provide:
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7)
There are terrible things coming to this country. Some things we shall see before the Lord comes for us. Many will lose their lives, but even so, those who have put their faith in Him have nothing to fear:
"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)
That's why we must strive to spread the Gospel while we're still here:
"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise." (Proverbs 11:30)

Duck comes in to bring up the rear. ;D
Look at the description of what will be going on...how people will be behaving,
"For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof..." 2 Timothy 3:5
Now, I am 62 years old...one of the older members of this MB. I can remember when you didn't read the things that you do in the news today or see and hear the behaviors that we see and hear today.
Read the other day of an 11 year old who shot his father's pregnant girlfirend in the back of the head with a shotgun and then went to school as if nothing had happened. This weekend, Sunday afternoon, as a matter of fact, went to the grocery store to get a loaf of bread and was amazed at the fowl language I heard coming from people in the parking lot.
Back in "the day," father's didn't have pregnant girlfriends much less, living in. Children didn't have access to guns and the thought of shooting someone wouldn't have occured, in my generation. Cursing was not heard in public and the stores were all closed on Sunday.
That is just for starters. I am sure that others can come up with more examples how times have become more and more perilous. Times have changed greatly and people are getting more and more wicked and perverse.
Paul said "from such turn away."
Those people Paul is describing seem to have bad attitudes...lawless and rebellious. To keep from going down with them Paul tell us to avoid those people.
Paul doesn't mean not to speak to them, or witness to them, but just not to join them.
I think you are right Vet in your approach to all this...and want to add something I read not long ago and remembered because it applied to me...
"When I try, I fail. When I trust, He succeeds."
"But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil." 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Maybe another "more better" way to put it.
;D

Thank you all. I need reminders and to be cheered up more often than most, I think. This life is not our home. Our home is with Jesus, if we beleive in Him. That is a much better place, and I can go on with the knowledge of Jesus being at my destination. My future's so bright, I gotta wear shades!

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 2:3)
This is Keifer's post for daily scripture today. I thought that it goes very well with the concept of perilous times, because we can endure through it all with God's help.

when i see all of the things happening in the world, things that the Bible tells us will happen in the last days, it makes me more confident in the Word in that the things predicted are coming true right before our eyes and that also says to me that our deliverance is not that far off. i don't know if it will be in our lifetimes but i think it will. i don't know if i'll be raptured or die of something before that time but in any case we will reside forever in the presence of Jesus and be forever happy. Heaven is a place i want to see, i hope to see. we will live in harmony and peace and will be in constant wonder and awe at HIM
