This was in our local paper today. Went something like this...
The origin of the name Redneck
Appears it was an early slang expression in Scotland for Prebysterians. They were, for some reason the paper didn't say, called "rednecks"
Paper suggested some good ole Bible thumpin' Baptist might want to go defend their turf...straighten them Prebysterian boys out...
I thought, "Red might be just the man for that job...he has straightened me out a few times and I ain't Presbyterian. I am...a Baptist"...

i actually come from a long line of Baptist preachers we traced it all the way back to a guy named John that left England to preach in the colonies or maybe it was australia not sure would have to check with my dad.

I am...a Baptist"... ;D ;D I think I have met some rednecks like red a few times what is it about those babtist ;D ;D ;D can I convert from babtist so the babtist cant beat me up with a 13 pound book??? just a thought ;D ;D
