It's with both sadness and joy that I report that our brother, and my good friend Mark Roberts has gone Home to be with his Lord. Sadness in that in this life he will be missed, joy that he is now worshipping his Savior in person. Mark posted under the name of "Job" on numerous message boards. We met several years ago on a secular board where we attempted to reach lost souls for Jesus.
A short time later he began his own board called Christian/Neurological Support Forum[/url]. You see, Mark was not a well man. Many times through the years he would contact me and his Moderators and friends for prayer for his health as he had days in which he simply couldn't even undertake typing at the keyboard of his computer due to the pain. He simply continued to fight the good fight in the Spirit even though his flesh was so weak.
I will miss Mark very much, but I know that it won't be long untill I see him again in the Kingdom! Please pray for peace and comfort for his Mother and Father, siblings and family. Mark's obituary appears below...
Mark E. Roberts, 41, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 31, 2006 at Heritage Wesleyan Church, 4801 44th St., Rock Island, Illinois. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born April 27, 1965 in Lincoln, Illinois, the son of Mark A. & Peggy L. (Metz) Roberts and was a graduate of Pontiac (Illinois) High School. He also attended Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.
Mark was employed as a counselor for A.W.A.R.E., a youth assistance agency in Bozeman. He was an accomplished outdoorsman who loved fly fishing, tying his own flies, hunting and the enjoyment & the appreciation of the world around him. His beloved nieces & nephews were a special joy in his life and he loved the times spent with them.
Mark loved the Lord with all of his heart & soul and being a witness for Christ to others was probably the most important part of his life. He will be sadly missed, but always fondly remembered by those who knew & loved him.
Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Mark & Peggy Roberts of Bettendorf; his sister, Kristin (Tim) Posey of Bettendorf & their children, Ali & Kassie; his sister, Nicole (Tyler) Driever of Bettendorf & their children, Brandon & Alex; his brother, Michael (Felicia) Roberts in Arizona and their children, Kayshia & Micah; his step-grandmother, Florence Metz of Bloomington, Illinois; and many other relatives & beloved friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his niece, Bailey Posey; and his grandparents, Vern Metz, Wilma Rowland and Roy & Sara Roberts.
