I use the Standard King James Version. I know that the enemy has his way of distorting Gods precious truth with the many available translations out there. But there is one precious truth that he cannot distort in any translation, and that is the message of salvation.
God Bless!

I use all of the above except the New Living and New Century.
You might want to double-check the version to which you refer. For example, in the KJV 1611 John 3:16 reads,
"For God so loued ye world, that he gaue his only begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue euerlasting life."
I would imagine you use one of the more recent revisions.

My KJV 1611 AV Reads this way for the above passage! For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ( John 3:16 KJV 1611 AV )

Holy Bible -- King James VersionLove in Christ Jesus, YSIC, \o/ ~Kristi Ummm....it is absolutely correct, taken directly from the 1611. Take a look for yourself: There have been several revisions of the KJV, most prominently in 1623, 1638, 1743, 1762, 1769 and 1850; consisting mainly of spelling standardization and minor textual changes. The latter two are the most commonly available today. If the Bible you use has the Apocrypha it's probably the 1769, if not it's almost definitely the 1850.

Kristi... ;D I think Steve is referring to the spelling...it is Old English with all the extra u's and e's in the words. Since the KJ 1611, the English spelling has been modernized but the meaning wasn't changed, just all the extra u's and e's and such taken out. What Steve posted is correct and what you posted is a later re-print of the KJ with the more modern English spellings which is also correct. Both say the same thing. See what ole Duck means? ...

It was the only screen shot I could find that was legible (the others were too small).
I'm not anti-KJV nor am I trying to start a Bible versions debate, I just want to be historically accurate. As I said, the changes made in all those years were quite minor. For example, there was no standardized spelling in 1611, the word "read" could be spelled "read", "reed", "rede", "reade" "red" or just about any other variation you can think of. The letters "U" and "V" were used interchangeably, pronunciation depending on context. The small case "f" was used in place of "s" under certain circumstances. There were also minor changes in wording, especially in articles. For instance, even today in the U.S. we "go to the university". In Britain, they "go to university", without the article "the". These things have become standardized over the years and the KJV has been changed to reflect this. Not a single verse has changed meaning because of these updates.
When these changes are published they are generally referred to as "revisions". Personally I think the word "editions" word be a better term. The reason I say this is to differentiate them from the re-translations like the Revised Standard and New Revised Standard. Someone who didn't know better might buy a NRSV thinking they're getting a "new and improved" KJV when in fact they are getting an entirely new, liberal-leaning translation.

Thanks Caretaker...you can make the print bigger! any size you want... Wow that is so cool. I had not even seen that option. Several years ago I had done some searching for the more original text and had bookmarked the site. The comparison is amazing that though in older english the content has not been changed. For me I take up my KJV with reverence as I can trust it to defend my faith, I can trust that those passages memorized are still there and as memorized, and that through the centuries multitudes have come to Christ through the very same Word which I hold in my hand this day. My hero of the faith was my praying Grandmother, who for 9 decades would arise early to spend time with our Lord and in His Word, and would so faithfully lift each family member up in her heart and prayers. She read through her King James multiple times, and wore the cover off of so many. The last one she had at her going home was the large print KJ which I had bought for her, when I saw the cover coming off of hers. For 90 years she trusted her KJ, and for the last 29 I have emulated and honored her faith and wisdom. My regret is that it took me 23 years to come to Christ. Too many wasted years. Grandmothger Lillis bought me my first KJ Bible on my 10th birthday in 1963, but it took me another 10 years before I found He who is revealed from its pages.

Caretaker that is a sweet post. Now I got tears in my potatoes...but that is what Duck gets when she reads the MB while eating supper. Thank you for sharing with all of us. Caretaker said... "My regret is that it took me 23 years to come to Christ..." Duck says... Might have taken you a while to get there...but you are there now...Praise the Lord! and Praise the Lord for faithful grandparents.

KRISTI ANN!!!
GET YOUR EYES CHECKED!!!
There are some great reading aids for folks in your "position." They can help alot. I will go hunt for some sites that have pictures and PM them to you. Reading the Bible on the internet is cool...but there is still nothing like reading directly from the pages of the Book itself...
and GET YOUR EYES CHECKED!!!
