On another thread Ezekiel 9 was cited and I got to wondering around in Ezekiel reading. Then read todays headlines and the city of Tyre is all over it. The Isralies are bombing the "do da" out of it blocking "Hezzies" supply routes.
Ezekiel 26 is about the fate of Tyre and Sidon. There is a near and middle fulfillment but Tyre is still there...could we be seeing a far fulfillment of that prophecy?

Don't know Duck, but I'll read that chapter. Things are happening so fast over there it's almost incomprehensible.
Anybody got any thoughts on Tyre?

Sidon is gone. Alexander the Great took care of that. The remains of it were recently found at the bottom of the sea...they are actually debris from Tyre that Alexander used to build a bridge to get at Sidon which was on an island. But Tyre was rebuilt and is still there.
So I figure maybe there is a far fulfillment to that prophecy.

I wish Lawerence would come and give us his views. They are always so enlightening and clear.

Also Marilyn, is "Tyrus" in chapter 26 the "Tyre" spoken of elsewhere in Scripture? I've not studied that...

But Tyre was rebuilt and is still there. This is a satellite photo of modern Tyre: It used to be an island until Alexander leveled the city on the mainland (as prophesied) and used the rubble to build a causeway to the island. As you can see, the causeway is still there and is now just part of the city.

In checking it would seem that Tyrus and Zidon are the OT spellings of Sidon and Tyre. There are several prophecies about them in Amos, Zech, and maybe Hosea, in addition to Ezekiel...and I faintly remember something in Isaiah too, maybe. Lots to read and so little time...tick tick tick...
Might want to go on and eat your banannas and tomatoes now! ;D

In checking it would seem that Tyrus and Zidon are the OT spellings of Sidon and Tyre. Cool. That'll make it easier to correlate Old/New Testament verses where they're mentioned... Might want to go on and eat your banannas and tomatoes now! ;D And them grapes feel like BB's after a couple o' weeks anyway... ;D Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' 'bout!

Gee...wish you fellas could cheer up a little...
What is all the news about some kind of cease fire agreement thru the UN...agreeded to by the US and France concerning Israel and Lebanon? US and France might agree to it but we aren't firing missiles at each other...

Hmmm, I wonder how you type a Toolman Tim growl? Oh well...
John Gibson reported on this 'agreement' during his afternoon show on Fox. He said it didn't look to him like anymore than an outline for a future document that has no substance. The panel agreed with him.
It didn't contain one single word about either side holding fire.
And so it goes...
