I shared this with Sister Duck, and thought some on here might get a nice read out of it...
Thursday before last I had a couple that had been visisting with us for a while come to me before one of the services was about to begin. They were both very concerned about their relationship with the Lord. The wife was in tears and wanted to make sure they both were going to spend eternity in heaven! How wonderful, how the Lord had dealt with their heart!!
After I had asked them a lot of questions to see if they knew if they were saved, and it got real tight for a while. They were confident in their faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, both having repented of themselves and their sin years ago, the husband wanted to make his faith public, and requested Baptism to follow the Lord.
The date was set, and that day turned out to be today, and the preacher forgot . Needless to say my heart sank when I saw him come in with family, friends, and neighbors in tow, along with a change of clothes.
The Baptistry was empty. We Immediatly proceeded to fill it with COLD tap water straight from the well. He said " that water won't bother me, I came to be baptized!"
So after the message, I went in and I'm telling you Sister, I thought I was going to pass out when I started in! Here comes the Brother, I said are you ready? this water is freezing! He never flinched! In he stomped, " I'm ready, I'm ready", tears in his eyes, he said after we got dried out and was at the back fellowshipping " I never felt the water".
Twas a blessing to see some one that eager to follow the Lord in baptism, the wife had been baptized when she was saved years ago, and they now seek membership with the church.....
I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene.....
