Made it to Alton and made it back, but the creeks and the river are rising...water was to the bottom of the bridge at the creeks by the time I came back from church, DB. [glow=red,2,300]I 'spect Pole Cat Creek is out of it's banks.[/glow] Good sermon today. We could hear liquid sunshine hitting the roof... Yep, twas for a little bit, but ok now. I noticed on the way to Nathalie Banister was boiling out the banks, and Sandy creek was looking something fierce also -- haven't seen that in a loooong time!! praise the Lord for sending the rain!!

Yes DB! Praise the Lord for rain! Good to see you out and about! The quiet rainy Sunday afternoon reminded me of quieter and gentler times... Sunday afternoons spent at my grandparents house on Maple Ave. visiting with cousins. Those were good times. We were just children then. We are now our grandparents and we are spread out all over the United States from coast to coast. I wonder if they, on rainy, cold Sunday afternoons, remember quiet days at Onnies and Joe's house on Maple Ave? I imagine that they probably do with smiles on their faces just like I do. Those were good days.

It's another beautiful day here! Lots of sunshine; the full moon has been just amazingly bright the last few nights. I am so fascinated by God's handiwork of the moon; I just do not understand how people can ignore God's workmanship when they look at the moon.
And the farmer across the road is harvesting his corn! He works so very fast that it only takes a few hours to harvest a field that is about 2 miles long and 1 mile wide.

If not for a decrease in my productivity, I could watch him go round and round on that tractor all day.

For safe keeping.
Found in the signature of a brother and friend, Lawrence.
"For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;" Romans 1:16a The Holy Bible --- "No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand!" -----
Amen.

Was reading a story Lawrence sent about an Israeli Commander during the Yom Kippur War who was accompanied into battle by a dove who insisted on riding on his shoulder. The Holy Spirit was riding on his shoulder and he knew it.
Lawrence drew attention to the fact that no matter what anyone does...God's plan for Israel, Jerusalem and the Jews will not be affected.
My mind was drawn back to one of my favorite stories in the Bible, the story of Joseph's bones. Joseph was so sure of the promises of God that he asked his body not be buried in Egypt. He asked that when the Hebrews returned to Canaan, his bones be taken back and burried in Canaan. Today he sleeps with his fathers in Israel.
The Lord kept His word and 400 years later the body of Joseph went home...
God will keep His word to the Hebrews now and no man can change that.
Amen.
Simply thoughts from a simple Christian woman standing in awe of the God of the Hebrews, Mighty and Powerful...who once sent a dove to identify His only Son...
Jesus.

A cave, a wood heater, fresh fish, and fresh coffee.
The Holy Bible, God's book, and the brethren, their thoughts, praises, admonitions, and thanksgivings for the goodness of the Lord Jesus.... what a place to fellowship.
Thanks be to God for His unpeakable gift!!
...and also for believers who share a common faith in the precious Lord Jesus Christ whom we shall soon see face to face!!
.. from the mouth of that cave I can hear the redeemed sing... shall we gather at the river.

Was on-line reading the news. Most of it is depressing and much of it conflicting and contradictary. It fills us with fustration and anxiety. I was getting pretty down and getting that grind in the pit of my stomach when a verse popped into my mind...
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8
I thought, "OK...I'll think on those things and thanks Lord."

In another place I got called down because I was critical of a bow by a man who calls himself president. So I wrote this in reply. They have moved on but I still can't...so post it here rather than releasing it into cyber space.
***
When I saw that “bow” I saw rows and rows of white crosses on a hill overlooking the Beaches of Normandy. I thought about the thousands and thousands of people who have fought and died so that we would never have to bow to another country, king, queen, president, prime minister or potentate. I was glad that my parents and grandparents never saw that "bow" and sad that I did and even more sad that the current generation thinks it is acceptable.
I tried to draw attention to the Copenhagen Treaty. The far-reaching implications are huge and will effect every one of us.
By trying to draw attention to the Copenhagen Treaty my bumbled intent was to point to something that is going on globally. The Copenhagen Treaty, which has to do with energy, is a move towards a global government that will in essence spell the end of individual national identities and the individual rights of all people. It includes payments by the offending industrialized nations to third world nations, a huge redistribution of wealth on a global scale. However, it appears that nations like India(my apologies to brother Lawrence) and China are not included even though those two countries and several others are large contributors to what is called the “carbon footprint.” Google “Individualism vs. the Collective” and read what pops up.
It is all headed towards a global government. The UN is the beginning of it in this age. The formation of the EU, Med. Union and other such economic unions are the continuing development of it. The move is on to form a North American Union.
This country appears to be on the decline…the great American experiment in freedom is derailed because we lost the vision of our founding fathers and have trashed the documents they so carefully crafted. We now predicate everything on money, power and control, which has taken the place of the vision of freedoms the first Americans had. It has taken us about 300 or so years to begin to revert back to government control of our lives and away from what our forefathers so carefully and lovingly composed and then fought and died for…and what others since then have fought and died to maintain.
Someone said it before; “…nothing short of a revolution is going to change things now.” But, it would appear the question is, have we lost the will to live free and in liberty and the strong people to lead? Patrick Henry put it far better, “…is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery …” or a bow?
This is the way the world ends. This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but a bow.
my apologies to T. S. E.

Lord forgive me but this is what I think and how I feel. He forgives you. He forgives us all. God talked to me about forgiveness just the other day; this time I listened, and I forgave some people that I was long past due forgiving. I got angry when I saw our president bowing (again!) to a foreign leader. And I thought: "Well, Obama is just acting like he has always thought. It is just a matter of time before Obama destroys the United States." But this is Thanksgiving! No more depressing thoughts! There are many things for each of us to be thankful; remember them, tell God, tell others, and celebrate! But don't come whining to me for help after you eat yourself sick. I will probably be passed out on the floor from eating too much, myself!

The Voice of One Who Wept
Today I heard the voice of one who wept In far off lands Because of sin and misery, And begged with outstretched hands For one small lamp to light his dark. Now fain I would have slept, So - stopped my ears, but in my heart That sobbing voice still wept.
And then I heard the voice of one who Counted not the cost, But left His ivory palaces to seek and Save the lost. He said, "The sound of one who weeps Is coming up to Me. Dost thou forget that last command Which I gave unto Thee, To preach my Word to all the world?" O, bitter be our shame! Still hopeless millions walk the earth Who never heard His Name, And still the world spends lavishly In every crowded mart, And still the voice of Him who wept Is sobbing in my heart!
by Martha Snell Nicholson
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Acts 16:9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.

This one always brings a tear or two.

His Plan for Me
When I stand at the Judgment Seat of Christ And He shows me His plan for me, The plan of my life as it might have been, Had He had His way; and I see
How I blocked Him here, and I checked Him there And I would not yield my will, Will there be grief in my Saviour's eyes, Grief though He loves me still?
He would have me rich, and I stand here poor, Stripped of all but His grace, While memory runs like a hunted thing Down the paths I cannot retrace.
Then my desolate heart will well nigh break With tears that I cannot shed; I shall cover my face with my empty hands; I shall bow my uncrowned head.
Lord of the years that are left to me, I give them to Thy hand; Take me and break me, mold me to The pattern Thou hast planned.
Martha Snell Nicholson
2Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Jesus Loves me for those of us over 50
Jesus loves me this I know, Though my hair is white as snow; Though my sight is growing dim, Still He bids me trust in Him.
Yes, Jesus loves me; Yes, Jesus loves me; Yes, Jesus loves me, The Bible tells me so.
Though my steps are oh, so slow; With my hand in His I'll go, On through life, let come what may, He'll be there to lead the way.
Though I am no longer young, I have much which He's begun; Let me serve Christ with a smile, Go with others the extra mile.
When the nights are dark and long, In my heart He puts a song; Telling me in words so clear, "Have no fear, for I am near."
When my work on earth is done, And life's vict'ries have been won; He will take me home above, Then I'll understand His love.
I love Jesus, does He know? Have I ever told Him so? Jesus loves to hear me say, That I love Him every day.
Author unknown
Psalm 71:9 Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.
Psalm 71:17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. 18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. 19 Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee! 20 Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
