September 11, 2001 Was sitting on the front porch of the cottage at Emerald Isle, NC praying about how blessed I felt to live inside safe shores... My sister came out to the porch and said, "you better come in and see this, something is happening." nymag.com/news/articles/wtc/gallery/

In a little while the horror turned to the awful realization that the buildings were collapsing and that many people and first responders were dying as we watched on our television sets and there was absolutely nothing we could do to stop it or to help. nymag.com/news/articles/wtc/gallery/3.htm

My day ended as it started, with prayers...with my family by the Atlantic Ocean...knowing that these shores would never be safe again...
Let us remember 9-11 with prayers...for this country.
Lord, have mercy on us.

From this day, my Praise, and Poetic Prayer, did sprout, from an overwhelming conviction that God wanted me to write and compose. How well we, everyone, has responded to that day, God Knows. Soon, sadly, mortality will become even more difficult to survive, for those passing through Tribulation. Pray, many, unsaved, chose Jesus, before the 'Gate of Grace' closes, just after our passing through. AMEN

This is post for Bob (Semper Fi). He says:
It struck me that we have a piece of WTC steel in our memorial garden at the firehouse when I saw on of the pix showing a closeup of the collapse.
Our steel is about 5 ft in height and I am so taken back by the twist in it showing the force of the collapse

Thanks Keith.
A few years ago the Port Authority of NY/NJ made available to organizations pieces of steel from the WTC. Today there are many Fire stations, police stations etc around the country that have received and then made permanent homes for the steel.
It was a labor of love and respect that we created our memorial garden with the help of our members and many civic organizations and businesses in our town.
The picture that Keith posted for me was from our dedication of the garden last year on the 10th anniversary.
I will say again, seeing those pix of the steel falling, that Duck posted, will always be a reminder of where "our" steel came from and what it represents.
I hope you don't mind my sharing it with you..

For our parents and grandparents Dec. 7, 1941, was the day that would live in infamy. That Sunday morning when the news swept across our nation that Japan had bombed Pearl Harbor. The moment they learned would be forever frozen in their mind.
Being an old greybeard I will never forget Nov. 22, 1963, 5th grade and the lunch recess on that rainy day, when Mrs. Glover came through the large double doors separating the Upper Room from the Elementary Room at Logan Avenue. Her face was a mask of pain and anguish, the tears were in her eyes as she announced that President Kennedy had been shot in Dallas, TX.
Tuesday September 11, 2001, will forever be seared into our conscience as we saw the smoke pouring forth from the first tower and the plane coming into the second. The horror, the anguish, the wounding of our collective heart, and the heroism which strode through the ashes and rose above the rubble, and persevered amongst the rubble of adversity. The hours, the days, the weeks, the haunting refrain of bagpipes and the notes of Amazing Grace carried upon the winds which had earlier carried the smoke of destruction out over the adjacent waters.
Dear Heavenly Father we kneel before Your glory this day, as our heart remembers and honors a twisted cross of metal beams retrieved from the rubble of destruction and erected upon the site of our nations wounds. We above all remember the rough timbers of the Cross of Calvary upon which our Hope and Redemption was sacrificed for each of us. As bagpipes wail and the hymn of Amazing Grace wafts through the distant air, let us remember How Your Amazing Grace moves across our nation and all around this world, and indwells the hearts and lives of Your precious children, never leaving nor forsaking no matter what this old world might bring.
Dear Abba, Father, please move and minister to those whose hearts are so deeply wounded, and on this anniversary of hates decimation, please minister to those whose wounds are deepest, whose dear ones perished in the rubble of horror. Help us Father to always remember, and to always honor those who sacrificed themselves for those in most desperate need. Help us to remember that in the darkened twisted hallways and the burning infernos of devastation, that You were there with Your precious children, that they did not endure and face eternity alone, but that for those who had placed their faith and trust in Christ Jesus our Lord, that You were there as close as the beating of their hearts, holding them in Your hand, enveloping them in Your Love, Your Amazing Grace, and as the breath was taken from them, You carried the precious ones Home to be forever with You in Glory.
Dear Abba, Father, so often this old world closes in and we feel so trapped by physical circumstances/limitations or lack of necessities or resources. Please help us to know that no matter how dark the valley of circumstance, Your Light of perfect Love illuminates our pathway, and can lift our spirit up on eagles wings and we can soar forth above our circumstances and rise higher than any adversity which might come our way. You told us that all who are burdened and heavy laden could come unto You and You would give us rest. Please help us Abba, Father to place the burdens which weigh us down into Your Omnipotent Hand, and help us we begin this new day, the very first day of the rest of our life, help us to truly place our faith and trust in You.
Please Dear Father move and minister in the hearts and lives of those we hold so dear, and please endow each of us with an ever deepening measure of faith and trust in You. As we remember those who have fallen as we view the twisted cross of metal beams, and the faith which arose indomitable from the ashes of destruction, please turn our hearts and our focus once again to the old rugged cross of so long ago, and Your Amazing Grace which flows eternally through the hearts and lives of Your precious children, and will never leave nor forsake Your precious ones. Please give us this day Your daily Bread, and may Your perfect will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. In the name above all names, our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray. Thank You Abba Father.
