We live outside of Pekin, Illinois, which is by Peoria, Illinois. We are in an ice storm warning area, and I see that we could get as much as 3/4" ice in some areas. Please pray that this will not happen.
I know that many people across the nation (including Keifer and my parents) have experienced terrible ice storms before with the resulting power outages, etc. I just pray that does not happen here. I feel responsible for all my patients, and I know that the terrible low temps combined with no electricity would result in some of them dying. I'm not even taking people into account yet! There is a low income housing unit in town that is several stories tall. I know many of them, and I cannot see how they will be able to get out of the building if the elevators do not work. Let along stay warm. So......
Dear Heavenly Father, I have seen Your miraculous works many times with our weather. Even though the big Mother's Day tornado did much damage, You made sure no one died. You have made the rain so spotty when we have had hay down that it did not get wet. You have given us rain when it got so dry. You made sure that people avoided flood damage this year. You have protected our crops from hail.
I pray, Father, that this ice storm will not happen. I am afraid for many people and animals if this storm does occur. If we do have to go through this trial, then please be with us and help us.
Amen.

We have ended up with about 1/2 inch of ice, but it is melting rapidly and only spotty power outages so far. My clinic is fine, except the parking lot is an ice rink.
Don't have any ice skates. Oh well, maybe another time.
So far, so good. Thanks for all the prayers! And please keep praying.

Easy to stay safe when you stay indoors and in one place.
And we still have power, although more and more people do not.

Hope you keep your power. Often we get ice storms, more so than snow, and way out in the country many of us have generators. When the power goes off you can hear our generators growling like bears in the forest. One by one they come awake and growl off and on. Most of us also have alternative heat sources so we don't have to run the generators continuously.
I have gas...but then I am over 60...hee hee hee.

Glad you've got a generator! We don't have access to one this time, because so many people are affected. Hubby has access to 2 tractor driven generators. These are old ones, but they are made to power dairy farms so have a very nice capacity. But we still have power, so far, thank God. Tonight it is supposed to get very cold (2 degrees F) and very windy (20-30 mph sustained winds.
Gas, you say............I have gas at my clinic, but the furnance blower fan is electric. I wonder, would eating beans produce more heat for me, or just stink Hubby out of the room?
