Recently was in a discussion and a friend made the statement that Jesus was a socialist. I said Jesus was a radical...and dismissed what he said before giving him a chance to say how he got that idea and what in the Bible supported that idea.
So what do y'all say? I think he was probably going to point to Acts...what would y'all have said to my friend?
Don't know how he got that idea. Told him mankind tries to define God using our poor excuse for wisdom and knowledge when God has made it clear His thoughts are not our thoughts and He ways not ours...
and that it is a mistake to try to do that...define what and who God is using our ideas and definitions...
so what do y'all think...?

The first thing I'd ask is if he's saved. Might explain his rationalization if he isn't. Jesus' life, views and teachings make more sense (to most brethren) if viewed through the eyes of salvation.

The problem is that they try to use 20th century meanings of words and apply them to 1st century living. Jesus taught that we can have all things in common, that the church was to meet the needs of one another by giving of their own possessions. Commonism is not communism . . . but a liberal will always attempt to redefine our language to mean something that Marx and Engel were aiming for.
