Lord,
Going with my family up to visit the D-Day Memorial in Bedford today. Just thinking about that day back in '44 brings a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. So many from one town.
In my church yesterday the pastor asked for veterans to stand and be reconized...even in our small church, many stood...going all the way back to the Second World War.
Thank you Lord for all those people who, from the beginning of this country's history...stood!
Thanks for my Mother and Father, both WWII Veterans...Tour of duty finished in this life...rotated out...and gone home.
Onward Christian Soldiers!
In Jesus Name, Amen!

Woman in the red hat is me...Dale, my son in law is just behind me. The statue is a gift from the French People in appreciation. I was translating the French caption for my family only to find it in English on the other side...
It is a peaceful place, the memorial in Bedford. Off in the distance are the Blueridge Mountains of Virginia. The reflecting pool sends up jets of water behind the soldiers giving the impression of bullets hitting the water. There is a water fall behind giving the impression of the waves of the ocean that day.
It is said that so many were wounded and died that the sea water was red with the blood...the price of peace...and of freedom.
As we walked and reflected on the sacrifice those men made...my eyes lit on something embroidered on the leather vest of a biker...Rolling Thunder...it said...
"The price of our freedom was paid by the one nailed to the cross"...
Amen!
