My grandfather once told me that in his lifetime,he had seen mankind go from a horse and wagon to the moon.He was born in 1885 and died in 1977.
This has caused me to think about some of the things I have seen in my lifetime.
Israel has become a nation after 2500 years. She has fought 4 major wars and several others with terrorists. She has enemies all around her, that have vowed to destroy her.A hatred that can only be satanic driven. I was in Jerusalem just a few months before the 6 day war in 1967.It was controlled by Jordan at that time.I was in my navy uniform, with my ship tied up to a pier in Beirut with an aircraft carrier anchored in the harbor. On that cruise,I roamed the streets of Beirut,Istanbul, and Tripoli (In Libya).Incredible what has happened since then.
I have seen it go from The Treaty of Rome to The Common Market to The European Union, surely The revived Roman Empire coming together.
I have seen the Soviet Union come together, dissolve and come back as Russia, the power to the north of Israel.
I have seen China and Japan, defeated nations become powerful nations east of Israel.
I am seeing Persia coming back together. (Iraq,Iran,Afghanistan and Pakistan)
I am seeing Libya,Egypt,Syria and Turkey lining themselves up for endtime destruction.
I am seeing my own nation, which without a doubt has been the greatest nation for freedom and liberty in the history of mankind, being torn apart at the seams, maybe for the endtime alignment also.
I have seen a time when people desired to live in a community where there were Christians and churches,to a hatred of that very thing.
I have seen where children were desired, cherished and loved,to offering them to the god of choice.
Are we living in the time when evil has become good and good has become evil? I think so.
I could go on about what I have seen in my lifetime, with technology and many other subjects but the one thing that I believe deserves the most attention is that God has chosen me to live now and to see and experience these many changes and I'm overwhelmed.
A very scary time to live from some view points and a very exciting time from other view points.
I wonder what else I will see before God makes His next move?
Maybe we "are raised up for just a time as this"

Amen, brother Bud, what exciting times we live in! On one hand it makes me want to cry seeing what state the world is in, and is going to. On the other hand, it makes me want to shout with joy because I know our time is short...
"So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors." (Matthew 24:33)

Yes the times we live in are to me like a sweet and sour sauce, with only one ingredient the sauce doesn't provide all the end results. I guess you could say that for our Christian lives also.

Hey, food is one thing that everyone can relate too!
Excellent story (idea, saying, read, post--I can't think of the word I wish to use). I think about all the changes I have witnessed over my lifetime, and it is astounding.
No computers, party line telephones, only 3 TV stations (4 on a good day), 4 radio stations, news only available at 6 pm; to computers (itty bitty!), individual cellphones, texting, hundreds of TV stations, satelite radio stations, news and weather 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
Medical advaces that astound me: even antibiotics were not always routinely used in animals 40 years ago; now we have MRI, CAT scans, all sorts of electronic measuring systems, and ultransounds. Not to mention that x-rays have gone from blurry, faint images to the astounding clarity of digital equipment.

Many people have turned from God: but many people look to God for help, and He provides for His children.
God provided all the techology we have at our fingertips today for us to use for good. That I find to be very exciting. What was untreatable just 5 years ago, now has treatment available. That is very good.
But the potential remains for abuse of such things: and I find that scary.
Forgive me, because I have written what Bud posted.

Gosh no! Thanks for reminding us of some of the many advancements you have seen in your profession and the technology advancements.
I remember taking electronics in high school and this was when transistors, diodes and other solid state electronic components were in their infancy. My instructor didn't know enough about them to teach us.Later I went to school in the navy and again after I came out and electronics was advancing so fast our books were out dated before we finished them.I remained in the electrical-electronics field until I retired and you had to constantly be studying and still couldn't keep up.
I'm sure everyone on this forum could relate what they have seen in their lifetime.

Amen to that...
My grandaughter reminded me last night of how far we have come. The Wright Brothers flew for the first time at Kitty Hawk, NC less than 100 years ago and now we look at pictures taken from satillites hurling way out in space...

I remember:
Slide rules, only black telephones and rotary dial on a party-line, the brand new Polio vaccine in three stages, which helped open the swimming pools.
"Duck and Cover" in schools in case of nuclear attack, reading the King James and the Lord's Prayer along with the flag salute to open each school day, a brand new toy called the Hula Hoop, Fizzy Drink mix tablets, Elvis in the army, a brand new movie at the drive-in theater called "The Ten Commandments".
Dress codes in school, boys hair three fingers above the eye-brows, girls must wear skirts or dresses, boys must have shirt-tails tucked-in, separate sides of the junior high for boys and girls, sock hops, A & W Root Beer floats, the new thing in drive-ins called McDonalds with 10 Thousand sold, something new called a Pizza Hut.
Clint Eastwood was a young man called Rowdy Yates on the Rawhide television show. John Wayne introducing a brand new western called Gunsmoke. A new music group from Liverpool called the Beatles, slow-dancing to Hey Jude as song of choice for it was the longest. Burger, fries and a coke for $.79, a dollars worth of gas filled a five-gallon can. A brand new Chevy was a little over $2000.00, a four bedroom two-story was about $15,000, and a family of four could live comfortable and save money on $6000-8000 a year.

And let's not forget...........
Mama cookin at the stove, there was no such thing as microwaves. Party lines have to be one of my favorites along with the way we gave out a numer. My grandparents phone was Swiftwater 23508, I'll remember that to my dying day. Churning real ice cream out on the porch, summer nights under a fan and grateful for it, real penny candy like wax bottles and dots on paper. Strawberry Crush soda and Charleston Chew candy bars. Being afraid of getting in trouble at school because I knew how much trouble I would be in when I got home. Bewitched in Color!

You know everyone says that the good old days weren't always so good. And maybe they weren't in some ways. Domestic violence was swept under the rug and it certainly was a man's world in business. But children had respect and weren't shooting each other in the street. And not every woman had to have a job because families stayed together and it didn't always take 2 paychecks to make ends meet. Families went to church together and nothing was open on Sunday but the hospital and the police station.
When I think about it all we really haven't made any progress. Seems like we've gone backwards in a VERY bad direction to me. Come soon Lord Jesus!

Amen Sylvia! It sure doesn't seem like we're going forward in the ways that matter.I suppose the ones that were born in the 40's, 50's and 60's have seen more changes than any generations before. It seems that changes are coming so fast in so many different aspects of life,it's hard for the mind to process it or that is the way it seems to me.
Paul lists quite a few things that will be prominent in the last days in 2 Tim. 3:1-7 and I believe we are seeing many of them now.It really amazes me how so many of the things Paul lists there are accepted as normal in our society.
