learned today...Va. Baptist Association has been contacted for help. They are going to send in an interim whose job is to fix it...or try to. Search for new pastor is on hold till we deal with the split in the church.
Praise the Lord...and please keep praying for our little church and each of us.

Too bad you can't spend a bit more time with the fellow that preached last week. Sounded like you all liked him.
Lately headquarters is a lot closer to the fellow that got kicked out in their philosophy and biblical views; that is, in many groups.

Thought about that too...maybe going back and reopen the last candidacy...
but I don't think so. Big split in the church...needs to be mended first.
If we don't go back and work on that there will be no going forward.
I think with the Lord's help it can be done.

Interim announced he is resigning due to "problems in the church" during the service today.
I didn't go and haven't gone to services since Feb. of last year when he was hired.
Not much comment and most people seem to be talking about how to grow the church and move on. That is encouraging.

Last Sunday was the interim's last day.
This week a preacher from NC is going to be there. Like him...but still only a temporary fella.
Looks like 3 out of 5 on the pastor search committee have resigned.
Lord, I trust You, but where is this going?

Well, here it is folks.
We had a family meeting and found we are all thinking the same thing. We are obligated thru the end of August...all 3 of us are SS teachers, SIL is a Deacon and on the Pastor search committee(inactive right now), Daughter and SIL have a youth ministry, and we have all 3 committed to help with Vacation Bible School...but after that we are leaving en-mass as a family without any fanfare... just gone.
Unless the Lord directs otherwise...we have all prayed and prayed on it and that is the conclusion we have all come to. In discussing it we found that is conclusion we had all reached independently thru prayer...
Time to move on.

I know that the Lord will lead ya'll where you need to be. This must be incredibly hard and division in the church is something that seems to be growing. That we know this is another sign of the end is not exactly great comfort when it's your home church. I will be keeping all of your family in my prayers. God has a plan and will put you where you need to be. He will use that wonderful knowledge that you have for His great plan.
Abba keep Your hand on this family and lift them up as they seek to do Your will. Amen.

Just knowing you've made a decision through prayer will make you feel better, Marilyn. It brings closure.

Well folks...I backed up. I kept thinking about how I came to Alton Baptist Church. Lord definately led me there so I can't leave till the Lord says go.
Church has started a prayer meeting especially for the purpose of praying for our church so I have joined them...gonna trust in the Lord and ride it out.
In a couple of weeks we are going to begin the process of engaging what is called an "Intentional Interim" Pastor...in other words someone who will walk us thru working with some issues the church has.
So I committed to one more year of teaching SS...
Gonna put my trust in Jesus and see where this all leads. Problem is Jeremiah 13 is popping into my head...not because of the people but because of what the Lord asked Jeremiah to do.

Dear Duck, you're in the water, Where God wants you, certified, Witnessing as a Godly daughter, Paddling hard as a part of the Bride.
Before you go to bed each night, Clear the room of Spiritual bed-bugs, Spread your arms, look beyond the light, And, mentally give Jesus' ankles a Hug.
Don't quit, make them throw you out. Arrrgh!!! and AMEN

Our church is divided over an expensive addition, and now both sides are not communicating. But I am staying until the Lord tells me to move on.
It is good that you and your church are looking to God for leadership. He will never forsake you.
