After much prayer and thought I decided to stick with my current church. Lord led me there and He must have had a reason. As you all remember we are currently between pastors and I don't agree with the marital status of the interim preacher so have stopped going to church and only go to SS and a few other church things.
Promised two members of the Pastor Search committee I would hang in there till the new Pastor comes on board before I make a decision about staying or leaving.
A fella is coming to preach on March 3rd and for a "Meet and Greet." He has been in the Missions Fields for about 10 or so years...is divorced, but never remarried.
We'll see.
Please pray for my church.

Know ya'll are tired of hearing 'bout this situation...thinking Duck "get off the pot or pee..." Dave Phillips is the fella who came to preach. Talked with him...liked his sermon...straightup and Rock solid. Liked the answers to my questions... liked him... Vote is this Sunday but it doesn't look good, from what I hear. Liberals and old people want to keep the divorced and remarried interim and his Jezabell...so will vote against Dave Phillips for that reason. I think if Jesus came and preached a trial sermon they would vote Him out...at this point. But have to put it in the Lord's Hands and roll with the outcome. Please pray for God's will...it is all we can do. Please pray He will forgive me for the bad thoughts I am having and what I am writing and saying about the whole situation...

Maybe if they do vote him down, he might be interested in sticking around starting a church if, say, three or four families will stand with him.
Could be a new church and a new day in the area . . .

Please pray He will forgive me for the bad thoughts I am having... Perhaps you can change your viewpoint if you begin to look at it from a Last Day's perspective. We're going to see such apostasy locally, and worse. It's exciting to me...shows how close the Lord is!

Afraid I am still stuck on the selfish side of the thang...gonna have to up-root and look for another church...
Virgil...I am afraid I am in a minority...like in the last church I left. A conservative among liberals and Christians, who altho Christian, still subsist on baby food.
I keep telling myself to leave it in the Lord's hands...and then taking it back again and ruminating on it.

It was almost a 50/50 split. Has to be 75% of members voting to offer the pulpit to the candidate.
Here's a switch...it was the children voting "no" for Phillips...that lost it.
I think the no votes were yes votes for the current interim and they are going to vote against any candidate who is not the interim.
The church is now officially split it appears. If the interim was truly a man of God he would resign to keep the church from falling apart.
on to the next chapter in this saga...

The shocker is that children were allowed to vote. Any church constitution that I have ever read only allows membership in the church (voting, that is) to 18 and above.

The children are baptised members of the church. Consitiution says any member of the church can vote and does not set any other requirements.
Now here is another development. Just got a call from another member of the church who is also a deacon and on the Pastor Search Committee...it appears there may have been some behind the scenes hanky panky by the interim.
Larry was looking for Dale...my SIL also a deacon and member of the search committee. He and family have gone fishing at a local state park. Gave them Dale's cell phone #. It isn't over yet. Far from it.
Ya'll please pray for all us on both side and in the middle...!

I think the constitution at this Baptist church is about to change...
One jump ahead of ya Virgil...looked at the constitution an it doesn't stipulate and age. Called the deacon who called me and asked for that to be changed...

Might not be that easy to change the constitution. It probably requires a 4/5 vote, and the children are eligible to vote. They will vote according to their parents dictates . . . and apparently those of the wolf in sheep's clothing.

Now is not the time to do that. We need to tend to the problem at hand.
There will not be another candidate I think tilll this matter is settled...
as for the interim and parents using children in that way...we all know what the Lord has said about that kind of thing ...and it is between them and Him...
The split in the church is everyone's concern at the moment.

The sad thing about a split, generally, is that the good folks go away and the bad guys get to keep the building . . . the sweat of other's labors.
But if there was ever a time . . .
at least it is not over the color of the carpet or the drapes in the auditorium.

One of the Deacons has called a special meeting for tonight...
Will be interesting to see where this leads.
Chuckled last night thinking about all of this...thought, "and the secular world thinks a Christian's life is dull."
sometimes I wish it was...

Deacons called a emergency meething last night. Apparently they confronted Dunn with his questionable actions and he resigned...
Now the split in the church can be worked on and hopefully healed in Christian love and fellowship and for the sake of the church...
Hallejuah! Praise the Lord. I am so thankful! Oh ye of little faith...I should have had the faith of Peter in the jail that night. Lord didn't lead me there for no reason...
Amen!!!
Please keep us in your prayers...we are still on rocky seas and in a storm...but I pray we are on the way to healing and becoming stornger!
Like my Grandfather said..."That what don't kill ya will make you stronger."
