Hubby and I watched it, and we loved it. That was just the first in a series.
My favorite Bible hero comes in the next show: Joshua. I have always admired Joshua for his warrior and spiritual leadership.

Good show, but a few errors. Though Roma Downey said on Fox and Friends they made it just as the Bible states it, they did make some changes. We made a list which I'm working on and will post later today.

In the movie:
Noah tells the Creation story to a little girl on the Ark.
But the Bible says only adults were onboard:
In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; (Genesis 7:13)
In the movie:
The Angel of the Lord told Sarah what to name Isaac.
But the Bible says the Lord told Abraham and Sarah overheard:
And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife...I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her... (Genesis 17:15a,b & 16a)
And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. (Genesis 18:9-10)
In the movie:
The angels fought the Sodomites and killed many when bringing Lot and his family out of the city.
But the Bible says the angels only struck the Sodomites with blindness so Lot could escape:
But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door. (Genesis 19:10-11)
In the movie:
Sara followed Abraham to Isaac's sacrifice.
But the Bible says Abraham took only two young men and doesn't mention Sarah at all:
Genesis 22:1-19
All in all, very good story with excellent special effects. We'll probably watch the entire series.

I thought the same as you have listed Keith. I had just forgotton who else, exactly, Abraham had taken with him. I just knew that it had not been Sarah.
I really liked it, though.
At the end of the show, Joshua kneels before the Ark and prays to God. I have forgotton, but could Joshua touch the Ark at that time? I thought that anyone who touched the Ark would die (even priests).

True. The Ark could not be touched.

King David is the only person who ever touched the Ark and lived...
I am sorry I can't watch the series...maybe it will come out on DVD. Heard on TV that it is the most watched series ...I think they said 30 million people tuned in.
I am hoping and praying people will come to the Lord because of it.

I wonder about timing. We have the "Bible" series which is making such a stir, we are coming up on Easter, and the Roman Catholic Church is receiving extensive media coverage as they select their new Vicar of Christ. They are lifted up as the elite of the Christian faith, and I just wonder how many will be influenced by the series, the celebration of Easter, and the leadership of the new Pontiff, and led into deception. Satan does not need to be 180 degrees off to lead into deception, just a little bit here and there, and the result is it will miss the target entirely.
Still to this day I cannot bring myself to watch "The Passion of the Christ", do the demonic deceptions and influences throughout.
Just an old fellers opinions. God bless you each so very much

Excellent point Drew...just a tiny bit of deception ruins the whole Message.

The illustration of making brownies with only one drop of dog poop in the mix is appropriate for this discussion. Who would be willing to sample them?
The red thread that permeates the Bible from Genesis to Revelation is that the blood of Jesus Christ (a perfect sacrifice) is needed to atone for the sin of man. The blood is not a pretty picture, it is quite gory and most ugly as we see in the sacrifices of Leviticus and Isaiah 53 where we told that Jesus became so hideous on the cross that he no longer even resembled a man.
Is Hollywood willing to tell this true story of man's utter incapability to approach a holy God on his own merit? No, they will not.
Everything man does to tell the story of the Bible always involves man's effort to appease God through his own good works - and is therefore the poison that will keep many from hearing the true gospel.

Now ya'll back up a minute and think about the story the "church" has built up around the Birth of the Lord.
There was no donkey mentioned in the Bible account and no inn keeper. The Maji were more than 3 and were not there the night the Lord was born. Mary and Joseph had been in Bethlehem for some time before Mary gave birth...
I could go on and on...and yet...
has it had a negative impact on any of us?
God's word gets thru to hearts ready to receive and to hear...people looking for truth and that truth is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! and to Hell with Satan.
I am praying many will see the series and will believe...and that it will wake some sleeping Christians in the process...
Over 13 million tuned into the first in the series...remarkable. Mention the name Jesus and you can still draw a crowd. Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammo! is what I say.
Lord is going to draw to Him who He is going to draw...all we have to do is pull the trigger on that Gospel shotgun!
AMEN!

How many skeptics look at that small difference and say 'See, I told you we can't trust the Bible! It's just a bunch of stories.'It's easier to evangelize with an uncorrupted story, which is why our work is difficult sometimes because the story's been changed.

What I have found over my 66 years is that the skeptics just want to argue the details. They are not interested in hearing about Jesus and Salvation. When they start to do that I move on.

Exactly what Jesus says to do, Marilyn!
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. (Mark 6:11)

I really enjoyed the show.
It will be interesting to see how they treat Jesus.
Like Duck, I also pray that this show will draw people to God through His Word. In the meantime, I will enjoy the show.

I watched the second show in the series last night. I loved it!
Although there was not as much about Joshua as I would have liked. I pray that this series draws people to read the Bible and accept Jesus as Savior.
