Learned today that an old friend is in ICU...ruptured esophagus from his last binge on Vodka...indicates chronic alcoholism.
Is on a respirator and is heavily sedated...
Very upsetting...
Please keep Bruce in your prayers...

Alcohol is a hateful thing. Best of wishes for Bruce, and praying that he can beat the demon.

Will keep ya'll posted. This is not looking too good. I didn't realize the situation was so bad.
Pray for his family...it is going to be hard on them. When he comes off the respriator...can't be sure he isn't going to have what is called "wet brain."
Medical term is Wernicke-Korsakoff. Have seen that in my work...not pretty. Not reversible.

Spoke with Bruce's sister. He is still sedated and on a ventilator...still in detox.
It has been a week...not lookin' too good at this point.
Family is devastated...very sad.

Went kinda like I was afraid it would.
They took my friend off the ventilator and took him off heavy sedation. He is playing the pity pot card and his 90 year old mother wants her precious 50 some odd year old boy to come home.
His sister is devastated...she came home on the fly from Tenn...my advice was to just pack up and go home.
Sometimes you just have to wonder where a drunk's bottom is. Even after all these years I still wonder at the power of the demon.
But know prayer is even more powerful...because God is. So I pray.
