Mom had to go to the emergency room this morning for a nosebleed in her right nostril that wouldn't stop. They attempted to cauterize it but that didn't work so they inserted an inflatable device to pack her sinus cavity. She has to wear it until next Monday then have it removed in the doctor's office.
She's had sinus problems and nosebleeds on and off all of her life but usually gets them under control without much trouble. This time, not.
I just took her home and shes feeling pretty good but has to remain on antibiotics until the device comes out. Please keep her in your prayers for a speedy recovery. Thanks, everyone!

Will be praying for your Mom. A friend had the same problem and the thing up his nose worked...
Hoping and praying it will work for your Mom too.

Thanks guys. After the device was inserted yesterday there was still some minor bleeding. Since there was no where else for it to go it trickled into her left nostril and plugged it up so she could only breathe through her mouth.
Thankfully, it had begun to open up last night just before bedtime, so hopefully she got some sleep. I'm not going to bother her for a while in case she wants to sleep in.

Mom's feeling much better today! The bleeding has stopped entirely and her left nostril has totally opened up normalizing her breathing. She's just a little tired from the stress of all the event yesterday. She slept fair but is looking forward to tonight's sleep since she doesn't have to breath through her mouth.

My neighbor said near the end of the week he sneezed and by accident, blew the plug out...said it was nasty but since then he hasn't had any problems...

She's doing fine, just tired from all the stress this brought on...she is 81, after all. She had to go to the Doctor yesterday and have the antibiotics changed as the ones they prescribed in the ER were upsetting her stomach. She says she'll be glad when the device comes out. It doesn't hurt, just very uncomfortable, especially when trying to sleep.

That's what my neighbor said...didn't hurt, just was uncomfortable... then the sneeze brought the whole thing to an end...

She gets the device removed at 2 p.m. this afternoon! All in all, it's gone fairly smoothly this weekend.
