Graveside services for James Larry Peoples, 71, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Oak Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mr. Peoples died at 6:30 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2014, at his home. He was born April 20, 1943, at Harrison, Arkansas, to Arthur James Peoples and Edna Mae Carter Davis Peoples. On October 15, 1961, he was married at Lanton, Missouri, to Brenda Kenslow. Mr. Peoples was a veteran having served with the United States Navy. He was a bus driver for Glenwood School and was known as “Grandpap” by the children. Mr. Peoples had also worked at Empire Gas, E. H. Carroll Trucking and the Howell County Sheriff’s Department. He was firefighter with the Lanton Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for many years. He enjoyed farming. Mr. Peoples was a Christian and was baptized at Hilltop Chapel as a teenager. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Peoples, of the family home; four children, Larry Peoples, wife, Anita, West Plains, Missouri, Timothy Peoples, of the family home, Johnny Peoples, Memphis, Tennessee and Jimmy Peoples, wife, Kim, West Plains, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Alex, Carissa, Brooke, Austin, Lakota, Dalton, Adam, Nathan and wife, Katlyn, Logan and Abbey; five step-granddaughters, Trista, Renita, Amber, Kate and Britnie; and two step-great-granddaughters, Lydia and Anna Sue. His parents and three brothers, Billy Wayne Peoples and wife, Ruth, Dale Peoples and Johnny Peoples , precede him in death. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Lanton Fire Department or the Gideon Bible Society, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. www.robertsondrago.com/james-larry-peoples/

There is a photo of Jim at the above link. He was one of our transport officers, a down to earth country gentleman and we worked together for several years. Prayers for his wife Brenda and the family. We'll see him again soon.
