The Day the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and brought the United States of America into WWII.
Wrote this last night, just before bedtime. It was on my mind.
"Been thinking about my Mom and Dad all day. Seventy three years ago tonight, people all over the United States went to bed...had church the next day just like we do tomorrow. But on 12-07-1941...so many lives changed and so fast.
My parents were both doing the very same thing when they learned of the Bombing of Pearl Harbor. Dad was in his room at VPI studying and listening to the radio when the President came on. Mom was in her room at Creighton University almost 3000 miles away doing the same thing.
The war the United States had tried so hard to avoid...after all, it was way over in Europe...had come to them. This country geared up and went to war.
So many sacrificed so much...seems not nearly enough to remember Pearl Harbor and to say thank you to that generation for what they did for us...
But I want to say thank you to them...and give thanks for them."
