A old friend of mine...Sal Amin, had a stroke day before yesterday. He was airlifted to Duke so it must have been a very bad stroke.
He is conscious today and knows his family...is asking for his children. That's good but there appears to be some memory loss and maybe some other damage.
He is Egyptian by birth and American by choice. At one time I was his landlord and about 10 years ago he bought the building his restaurant is in and now it is his.
He is Catholic and he is a very dear and old friend of almost 30 years. It is because of him that I know what a wedding in the Middle East looks like...and get an inside scoop on Egyptian politiques. His brothers and sisters still live in Egypt and his Father also. They live on the Suez Canal.
Please pray for Sal and his family.
Thanks y'all...

Indeed it was a massive stroke...3 clots started in lungs, one stayed and 2 traveled to brain. Sal has regined some speech but right side is not lookin' good...only very limited movement. Still in ICU...still at Duke.
Please keep he and his family in your prayers...

Sal is out of the hospital and has been transferred to a rehab. facility. He is getting 6 hours of rehab a day and he is coming along. Strong and remarkable man.
Please keep Sal and his family in your prayers...
