Please pray for the family of an old friend who died of cancer on the 20th. Investigator Ricky Hicks...lots of funny stories and loads of laughs amid the work. Good man. Will be greatly missed
Also for another friend...wife of a childhood friend and family Doctor, till he retired. His wife Mary, an RN, has some very serious health problems and became septic day before yesterday. They did emergency surgery and amputated her leg last night...
Very sad for these families right at Christmas...please say a prayer for Mary and the families of Ricky and Mary...

Friend's funeral was at the Fireman's Center in town...good thing too. Whole parking lot was full of Law Enforcement and Fire Dept trucks and cars. Police Officers at every intersection all the way to the church...which was about 15 miles away.
I held it together until the Turbeville Fire Department sounded it's siren at the Cemetery. Last call. Firehouse is just down the road from the church...
Very sad. Ricky was a good man...and friend to many including this ole fowl.
Heard from Mary who had surgery...she is doing Ok but in a lot of pain. More surgery scheduled for today...
Please say a little prayer for Rick's family and for Mary and her family.

Last night two teenagers were killed in an automobile accident. One was the Daughter of a past Sheriff and the other the daughter of an Investigator. Both sets of parents, friends of mine.
It is incredibly sad. The daughter of the past Sheriff is the niece of Mary and Barnes, and the granddaughter of Barne's brother Gus. Mary is the lady who just had her leg amputated...Barnes and Gus are childhood friends of mine.
Sometimes we look skyward and ask why?

Was a sad Christmas in my community with the funerals of two teenagers...but some good has come of it. Lots of talk about safety and wearing seatbelts...and holding children and other loved ones close. Life can change in the blink of an eye. So say I Love You and often!
My friend with the amputated leg is going thru a really rough time. she is a nurse so is posting some of what she is experiencing and it is brutal. She has so much courage...She has to have surgeries to clean the wound every few days and has to lie flat on her back. The result is bedsores...and rashes on her backsides...
Please keep her, her family, and medical staff in your prayers...

Friend with amputated leg is going from bad to worse...now has pneumonia, fever and real breathing problems. Her husband...a Doctor himself is not good when illness is striking that close to home. I so wish they would transfer Mary to Duke Medical Center. But it isn't my call.
Please pray for my friends...they are going thru such a hard, hard time.

Mary spent a good day yesterday. Fever didn't spike and she started PT. She was able to stand and was excited to actually put a sock and shoe on her foot. She was able to use a walker to get up and did so on her own without assistance.
That's progress and please help me pray that progress continues.
I am so inspired and impressed with her courage and fortitude...

Please keep Mary in your prayers. She moved to a Rehab facility yesterday and is so excited to get out of the Hospital She had been there since 12-19...
Now she can work towards going home!
