I hope this is where this question belongs: where are some good sources for the Bible and also commentaries in MP3 format? I purchased an MP3 player with FM radio for my husband for Christmas (yes, my first time) and it plays so very much better than the old Walkman cassette/radio things. I will buy one for myself after Christmas, and I know that I want the Bible plus some other Biblical resources in the MP3 format.
I did a Google search and found many many many different sources for the Bible and commentaries so I was hoping that someone here could give me some guidance before I dig through all this mess of sources.

Here you go Donna, The Audio Bible[/url] in MP3 format. Just click on the Book, then the Chapter you want. Sorry, I don't have a resource for commentaries.

My favorite commentaries are by John Phillips. Have been buying his books one by one. Tried to see of they come audio and didn't find any.
Sorry. A book store may be able to find them.

There is one thing you can do. Find a text file of a commentary or book that you like and save it as a pdf file. The web site, Internet Archives, has bunches of old books written by biblical scholars (and some are even Bible believers) that you download already in .pdf format.
Ok, open the file with Acrobat 9 and under VIEW, you can click on the button that says read out loud.
It isn't an mps file, but it does give you the option of listening to it online.
Now, if you have a lot of free time on your hands, you can get a program such as "audacity" (it is free) and have the pdf read it outloud and record it into an mp3 file. After you get the book done - burn it to a cd and that should play for you.

Also, you can go to the through the Bible radio site and you can download the entire 5-year program that J. Vernon McGee did. It is free. You can burn these to a cd and your husband will get a lot of good solid Bible truth from this Bible Presbyterian.
Another thing you can do is to go to church websites that are in line doctrinally with your beliefs - many of them now have mp3 files of their sermons - and you can find TONS of material there.

Do be careful though, with these sites that promise good Bible studies but do not give any clue as to who they are - many of the cults, chiefly Mormons, SDA's and JW's are providing fluff studies to pull people into their study rooms. I am sure that you are grounded in the Word in in your faith - but it is always good to realize that "not all Israel is Israel."

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've missed quite a bit by not logging in to check things out on this MB.
However, I also got a free ipod Nano last week for listening to a surgical laser salespitch. Never had an ipod before, and so now I can listen to mp3 format and podcast formats!
Brand new worlds opening up before me. Lots of fun!
I found that the itunes website has many free podcasts, several of which are reading the Bible. I haven't taken the time to examine the sources for truth yet, and I will not listen to something unless I can confirm that it is a trustworthy item. There are many many paths away from the Truth in this world these days.
