Up about 3:30 AM, a couple of logs on the fire, the coffee on. Just received a call and Jan is driving through the dark to be with our daughter as the contractions are six minutes apart. We could be blessed with another grandbaby pretty quick.
I was just up in Council Grove the other day, and looked into the room where they organize the local "Care and Share". The tables in the large room were heaped with clothing, grooming items, toys, and special age appropriate items. The community gathers together to provide Christmas for those that can use a bit of help under the tree and in the stocking.
May we remember those who are not able to get in by the fire with a hot cup of cocoa. So many are faced with nothing in the fridge or on the pantry shelf. There are so many whose bills extend past their paycheck, and the pressure is on to "give the kids some Christmas".
Emotions are magnified a hundred-fold at Christmas and so many hearts are breaking from the overwhelming stress of the season. Is there a chance to do something for someone in need this holiday? A bit of extra in the red kettles? A plate of cookies for the shut-in, or a bit of cash for that young family down the road? Can we give a bit to the local church which is putting on a Christmas dinner for the community? Instead of reaching up under the tree, would it be possible for us to reach outward to someone in need? In the words of Tiny Tim, "God bless us every one".

Jan just got back home. The contractions are pretty consistent ay 6-7 mins apart, for the last 61/2 hours. One was 12 mins but they are pretty consistent otherwise. This is the second baby for Ally and David. He works nights so Jan was just there till he got home. Will be pretty soon, probably before Monday. This will be my seventh grandbaby. My avatar is holding Lexi and she is going to be the older sister who just turned 4.
God bless.

Our youngest grandson, Joshua David was born at 1:18 this afternoon. He weighed in a bit over 7 pounds and he and Mommy are doing fine. Daddy arrived home from work at 7:00 AM just as Mommy's water broke and Joshua was born six hours later.
May our Father wrap His arms around these precious ones and bless them in every area of need, in Jesus' name.

Amen to that Drew...
What a blessing, a whole quiver full.
"Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate." Psalm 127:5

Thank you so very much and Gos bless you. I sat and rocked him in the hospital for about an hour last night. They kept him and Mommy an extra day as he was a bit slow eating. A great blessing is the patter of little feet, and the cries of, "Paw Paw". Not a great deal of resources to bestow, but they will know that my arms, my heart, and my door is always open, and I have been able to bestow a legacy of faith through their parents. I have watched my children come to Christ, and their children in turn are seeking the way of the Master.

What absolutely beautiful thoughts Drew...and exactly how I feel about my children and grandchildren. I haven't all the money in the world to give them but I have all my love and it is theirs...and my prayers.
and it has been my privilege to introduce them to Jesus...
My Grandfather used to say..."I have 5 grandaughters but the Lord doesn't have any grandchildren." I felt so sorry for the Lord till I figured out what my Grandfather was saying.

I am so reminded of the words of Peter, "Silver and gold have I none but such as I have give I thee". When I baptized my wife Jan, my son Drew, my daughter Ally, and my Granddaughter Bethany, they were also my Brother and Sisters in Christ Jesus our Lord. Your grandfather was most wise, and God has no grandchildren, Praise the Lord!!!!

Emotions are magnified a hundred-fold at Christmas, and the strain on small budgets so enormous as the desperate desire to "provide some Christmas", becomes the driving force and critical budgets are busted wide open. There is nothing placed under the tree or wrapped in glittery paper which truly has any real value.
What truly has value is not what is under the tree, but He who hung upon the tree. What truly has value are the hearts which gather together in love which is shared. The poorest table becomes a King's feast when family gathers to partake. A bowl of watery soup is a true feast when it is blessed by God and partaken by hearts which love. Our Lord was laid in a humble manger among the animals, the lowest of environments, below even the humblest of abodes, as He came to save all from the lowest of circumstances.
Christmas was outlawed by the Puritans in America, because it was a European time of debauchery and excess, gluttony and drunken revelings. It was the Germanic and European influences which brought it back in the 1800s. It is the corporations which truly celebrate as soon as they can shove Thanksgiving aside.
May we place the the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives, and may we lay the stress and need to buy huge quantities of glittery fluff aside, and seek to share true unconditional love with our families and those around. A five dollar bill in a charity bucket will mean so much more than a fruit basket on a table. May we take the time to share His love and our love with those dear ones, and those around. We have so many blessing so much to be thankful for. May we reach out in love and caring. May God so bless you.

Had my 12th wedding last Saturday, 3/3/12. I am the big ugly feller in the back with the dark suit and hair that goes in all directions, and making sure no one backs up into the candles: Father we thank You for watching over Derricko and LaDonna, and each of their dear ones as they have gathered here this day, and we pray that You would surround each of these precious ones with Your love, and bless their hearts as they traverse the byways of Your perfect will for their lives. Father we pray a special prayer for those dear ones who are not able to attend, but are so in our hearts and prayers. We are gathered in Your presence Father with thanksgiving in our hearts and praise upon our lips, for Your guidance, and the special awareness that You love us and are so ready to bless our endeavors fulfilled in Your Holy Ordinances, and Your perfect love for Your precious children. Bless these precious ones dear Father as they embark upon the future pathways of Your perfect will, united as one in dedication, purpose, and sacrificial love one for the other.
