What are some examples of sin that we commit and don't know we are commiting a sin?
I am drawing a blank on it tho I know we all do that.
HELP! Senior moment!

Basically, everything we do is a sin (even good things) if they don't reach God's standad of perfection. James tells us that if we are perfect in everything but one - we still blow the whole thing.
On the other hand, there are sins of commission and sins of ommission.
We are pretty clear on what committed sins are as all unrighteousness is sin (righteousness is perfection) while not praying for folk, withholding God's part of our income, not faithfully witnessing or attending worship with like-minded believers, not asking God's blessing on our food - are examples of ommissions.
I believe the bottom line is just being human is a sin - but thank God one day we shall be like Him! He doesn't sin - we won't sin.

...and sins of ommission. Those are the ones I thought of immediately Virgil. We all know what it means to sin when we do something wrong, but we don't think about all those times we should do something but we take no action at all. Paul said it best, that instead of doing what he should, he doesn't: "For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do." (Romans 7:19)Thanks be to Lord Jesus Who covers us from this also!

Am teaching from Leviticus and haven't really read it before to teach. Not one of those books we pour over.
Lesson is from chapters 5-6 and is about sacrifices and sin. I am very tempted to go to Hebrews which is what pops into my mind concerning Jesus's blood sacrifice as a permanent covering.
I am afraid I don't quite plug into the approach Lifeway is taking...don't mean to complain in a public place but am frustrated and disappointed. I was so excited about studying Lev. to teach it and instead ran into a brick wall...least that is how it feels.

Yes.
It helps also to recall Romans 3:23, and part of the great soulwinning tool, The Romans Road.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
What do we come short of? God's glory.
What is God's glory? I believe that it is His absolute perfectness.
We picture this as a bullseye on a target. Anything that misses dead center is to "miss the mark" - hence, the classic illustration of what sin is.
I like to say that sin is not being as bad as we could be, but not being as good as God expects us to be.
That pretty much includes everything - oh, how we need an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the sin-covering - Who covers our every imperfection with God's own blood!
"Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood" (Acts 20:28).
To coin the feathered legend, "Amen, and pass the ammunition!"

Am teaching from Leviticus and haven't really read it before to teach. Not one of those books we pour over. Lesson is from chapter 35 and is about sacrifices and sin. I am very tempted to go to Hebrews which is what pops into my mind concerning Jesus's blood sacrifice as a permanent covering. I am afraid I don't quite plug into the approach Lifeway is taking...don't mean to complain in a public place but am frustrated and disappointed. Old Testament - MacIntosh, C. H. - Notes on the Book of Leviticus - © 1862

Amen!!!
Good stuff all!!!
It is like shooting an arrow and having it fall short of the target, let alone hitting close to the bullseye.
1 Thess. 5: 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19 Quench not the Spirit. 20 Despise not prophesyings. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
