Reversing the Growth of Government...
President Reagan rightly knew that government was and still is the problem, not the solution to the problem.
"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And, if it stops moving, subsidize it."
"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

Communicating great ideas and a freedom philosophy...
President Reagan humbly thanked Americans for the title of "Great Communicator" but informed them that he was really communicating great ideas. He put America on a course to freedom that embraced great conservative ideas and made no apologies to the naysayers and pessimists.
"Whatever else history may say about me when I'm gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, and not your worst fears, to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with liberty's lamp guiding your steps and opportunity's arm steadying your way."

Allowing American citizens to keep more of what they earn...
Ronald Reagan understood that burdening Americans with heavy taxes stifles their prosperity which is why he signed the largest tax cut in American history at the Reagan Ranch in 1981.
"I have only one thing to say to the tax increasers, go ahead, make my day."
"Those doing all the critizing had their chance. In the four years before we got to Washington they had it all. They had the whole enchilada...they virtually had a free hand and all they could think to do with that free hand was stick it in your pocket."

Re-builing America's defenses and strengthening our military...
"Today we did what we had to do. They counted on America to be passive. They counted wrong."
"We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we may always be free."
Least we forget...

Disarming liberals with wit and wisdom...
Presiden Reagan rarely belittled his adversaries personally: he used wisdom and humor to help win the hearts of Americans and suceed in the battle of ideas, frustrating the liberals every time.
"Liberalism has nothing more to say, nothing to add to the debate. It has spent its intellectual capital, such as it was--and it has done its deed."
"Thomas Jefferson once said, "We should never judge a president by his age, only his works," And ever since he told me that, I stopped worrying."

Offering a clarion call for his countrymen to stand tall for freedom...
Ronald Reagan was a living example of the optimism and patriotism of Independance Day because he saw each day as a chance to preserve and protect freedom for future generations of Americans.
"Let us resolve that young Americans will always find there is a city of hope in a country that is free...and let us resolve they will say of our day and our generation, we did keep the faith with our God, that we did act worthy of ourselves, that we did protect and pass on lovingly that shining city on a hill."

Making America proud and helping Americans believe in themselves again...
President Reagan didn't so much create a prideful nation, but he tapped into the optimism, hopes, and dreams that he knew Americans already held. His faith and trust in the American people helped lead the nation into the greatest period of peacetime growth and expansion our country has ever seen.
"After 200 years, two centuries, America still stands strong and true on the granite ridge, and her glow has held steady no matter what storm. And she's still a beacon, still a magnet for all who must have freedom, for all the pilgrims from all the lost places who are hurtling through the darkness, toward home."

Confronting the evil empire and breaking the back of Communist regimes...
President Reagan remembered communist' corrupt and dishonorable schemes from his days in Hollywood and wasn't afraid to confront evil when he saw it.
"I believe that communism is another sad, bizzarre chapter in human history whose last pages even now are being written."
"How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin."

Praising the family, not government as the connerstone of American life...
Ronald Reagan knew ad families celebrate Thanksgiving, that the source of American prosperity comes from God, not burecrats and public officials in Washington.
"All great change in America begins at the dinner table."
"When the liberals say 'family,' they mean, 'Big Brother in Washington.' When we say 'family,' we mean, 'honor thy father and mother."
--Ronald Reagan

Remembering to seek God Almighty for enduring strength and wisdom...
Ronald Reagan was a man of faith and of prayer, and it was manifested in the wise words he spoke.
"America needs God more than God needs America. If we ever forget that we are On Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under."
The last American President Ronald Reagan

The following is almost prophetic...
In his last address from the Oval Office, Ronald Reagan challenged us to reach young Americans with the history of our country and with a patriotic spirit. The President knew that if young Americans adopted freedom as their compass, then they will not lose their way.
"Freedom is not something to be secured in any one moment of time. We must struggle to preserve it everyday. And freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction."
Lord, I pray for our country. We have no candidate to chose...not one.

Good stuff Marilyn. What we need right now to handle the world's problems is a cross between Ronald Reagan and Harry Truman: A cowboy from Missouri to tell'm where the buck stops... ;D

In reference to having been the head of the Democratic party in California in the 1940's:
"I haven't left the Democratic party, the Democrats have left the Democratic party."
