This is probably a silly question, and feel free to move it if needed:
How do you say "amen"? Do you say it: AH-men; or do you say it: A-men: or do you say it: Aye-men?
Does it matter how you pronounce it?

brought a smile to my face...
If you are from the south...Now correct me if I am wrong DB! and I know you will... ;D
it is rolled out as
AAAAAAA-men...! said with gusto when exhorting or agreeing with a pastor or another believer and with reverance and deep affection when speaking to the Lord of Glory!
Amen?

what Duck said.
And I have no clue how to spell out how some pronounce it round here - we live in a culturally unique area that has a patent on slang and pronunciation.

and I'll say Amen to that!
Was in a restroom at Stonehendge in England and heard an accent...knew that they were from Virginia and figured it was around the Roanoke area. When I asked them I found I was dead on the target. They were from Roanoke.
Not only is there a distinct accent and slang you can tell where a person is from in Virginia when you hear it by how they speak.

I find that whenever the preacher would say something that I wasn't guilty of, I would shout "Amen!"
and then when he started stepping on my toes and showing me that I wasn't as good as I starting thinking I was, I would kind of whisper, "Oh Me!"

Shalom. Try "Aw-Main," to pronounce 'So-be-it' using the original Hebrew. The 'e' we use, today, originally was used for the 'hard-A' sound. The vowels sounded out something like: A=aw, E=Ay, I=Ee, O=Oh, U=oo. The letter stayed the same, but we softened, and changed the oration of the vowel. While I am here, the letter 'J,' (invented in 1630) is not supposed to have a 'dg' type sound to it, but more a "ee-eh" type sound, to offer an 'I' sound a bit softer. Yorgenson, not Dg-orgenson. Now that we all know, we can go back to the way we are used to sounding out vowels like we normally do.
In Messiah, I hope this helps. Arley
