A helicopter rescue company confirms three of its members died this morning while searching for a missing hunter in Alabama. The three worked for West Plains-based Air Evac EMS. They were assisting Colbert County, Alabama authorities in their search for a missing hunter in the Freedom Hills Wildlife Management Area when their helicopter crashed shortly after 3 a.m. The identities of the three crew members haven't been released. The hunter was found about the same time the helicopter went down. The crash is under investigation. Source: KY3 News
This is my hometown air ambulance service. Based in West Plains, MO and serving eleven states, I've routinely been up in their local choppers several times over the years with pilots who are friends of mine, one who used to be in law enforcement with me. Names of the deceased haven't been released yet, so I don't know who was killed, if they were local pilots sent to the search area or not. Please keep their families in your prayers. I'll offer more as it comes in...

The crew members killed were based in Alabama and I didn't know them. They had just found the missing man and were hovering over his location guiding land based crews to the scene when the crash occured. It's unknown at this time what made the chopper go down. The missing man is fine.
May the Lord comfort the families of the crew, in Jesus' Name, amen...
