“But if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1:7).
Oh what a day when first I could see that I am in the Light! Not because I dress like you or think like you or talk like you or go to the same church as you. No, no my friend. There is only one direction into that glorious Light and that is to an old rugged cross where Jesus God's Son shed His blood for you and me.
[glow=red,2,300] "My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!"[/glow]
"Being justified" means then that we receive God's righteousness---freely. God imputes the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ to the believing sinner while he is still in his sinning state. Your identity in Christ takes all the pressure off, leaving you free to have an intimate relationship with God Our Father and to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Yes, we recognize of course that there is a difference between a sinless state and a forgiven state for you who still fear luxuriating in God's grace. But I tell you, if we belong to God, and this says 1 John 3:2, “now we are children of God”, then now we “walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light” (1 John 1:7a). This assertion is as sure and certain as is our God, the Savior who left the bitter end of the cross in an empty tomb ALIVE and sits now on High in His place of honor. Christ purchased us out of the darkness and God transferred us into the Light. And now we have fellowship with one another--- with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. Amen! -Brad
