"Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace . . . Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them" (Psalms 37:37; 119:165).
This week, let us ponder our peace . . . a great gift from our God to the saved.

Only the prince of peace can freely bestow a life of peace . . .
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this" (Isaiah 9:6-7).

Isaiah speaks much of this most important subject . . . peace.
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee . . . LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us" (Isaiah 26:3, 12).

Amen, even as the hymnist said it . . .
"I've a peace in my heart that the world never gave me, A peace it can not take away; Tho the trials of life may surround like a cloud, I've a peace has come there to stay!"
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God" (Romans 5:1-2).

"For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father" (Ephesians 2:14-18).

Yes, and God has given to us the blessed duty of carrying that gospel of peace to all that are afar off and to those that are near . . .
What a Saviour! What a privilege!
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" (Romans 10:13-15).

2012 promises to be another year filled with fear and trepidation as the world continues a downward spiral of uncertainty. Folk are losing confidence in their country, their politicians, their employers, and even in large measure . . . their churches. Multitudes are simply losing hope. And yet, for the child of God, promises abound in the Word of God which aim to strengthen and arm the Christian to walk confidently with his/her Saviour in the midst of myriad trials.
As we travel through this year together, let us be reminded that the Bible has hundreds of promises for the believer, that we will consider daily and be heartened in our heavenly citizenship. I would pray that this thread will be visited often for the courage and strength that can only come from the mighty "Thus saith the Lord!"
God bless you all and be strong in 2012, my spiritual family in the Lord.
So then, with that, let us this January consider God's GENERAL PROMISES TO BELIEVERS.
"The LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11).

And remember, you cain't stand on the promises . . . if'n you don't know what they are!
“The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage” (Psalm 16:6).

I expect that these verses ought to put us on shouting ground . . . It is wonderful to be saved and to have these promises!
“Surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him” (Ecclesiastes 8:12).

Our promise for today from God's inexhaustible supply is . . .
“Blessings are upon the head of the just. The desire of the righteous shall be granted. The hope of the righteous shall be gladness” (Proverbs 10:6, 24, 28).
