I sit here deep in the cave tonight and am thinking of the sermon my pastor preached tonight about faith and works. to me basically he is saying don't just sing it bring it. I've used that term many times in my line of work but tonight it means a whole different thing. As I think of this I also think of how this Sunday I will be starting to teach the 6 yr old to 10 yr old class until May. I think of how I could just say the lesson to the kids but how much better to say and show the lesson to them. How often when we witness to others we can say a bunch of words yet never show them our faith by the way we live. Been also thinking about being sent back out to the nursing home to finish the work the Lord sent me there for a few years ago preaching the Gospel to these older people, and about restarting the Friday night Bible study chats over at CIC. It seems the Lord ain't done with me yet on the work He wants me to do but seems like He gave me a break when dad got sick and now it seems He's saying it's time to git ofin my backside and get back to work. Just a few ramblins from a rednek.
God bless

Francis went to meet the Lord early this morning. Gary is already there and he is not retarded any more and he is not physically handicapped.
Francis is not sick anymore...
Amen.

Thanks all. I feel like King David did in a way, when his baby son was dying. He mourned and prayed. But after the baby died. He bathed, put on clean clothes and ate a meal. When asked why... My answer would be to this situation. I won't see my friend here anymore. But I will see her when I get there. So now I can rejoice and be glad. Simple way to look at it but it is the truth and the Christian way to look at it. I always worried about what would happen to Gary when Francis died. I know she was a great mother and that she had made provisions...but still. Isn't it a marvel how our Father works and looks out after us. Gary died first and Francis followed. Lord thinks of everything. The lesson to us is that we don't have to worry about anything. The Lord has this great plan for our lives...we just have to follow. Lord is looking after us all. And in the end it will all be OK. Thank you Lord for loving us so. I love you. Last sad note form the cave on Higher Ground for awhile, Time to enjoy days off, and tidy up a little. Sunday School Social at my house this Sunday Afternoon! Got to dust, and vaccuummmmmm, bake a little... Shove everything under the beds, and in the closets. Gonna try to give Pete a bath in the bathtub. That should be interesting. Amen.

Came to sit in the quiet of the cave, high on top of Horeb. Sun is shinning bright on a February day. The list of things to be done today is long and completing it all will stretch this day onto the night.
The world seems to be going on as usual. People going to and from different departure points arriving at their destinations, doing chores and running errands. They look like ants from the cave...
Things have gotten so quiet otherwise...quiet before the storm.
*** Remember Lord, how I used to do this on another MB in another cave long time ago, go into an old post and write in the middle of the post. Write about what is in my heart and burdening my soul. Try to get it out and into words...and tell You about it, all about everything.
Things are getting bad Lord, I know you know that but I told you anyway. I don't know if I can last till January...crazy things are going on at work. Sometimes I think it is me...maybe it is. I don't know any more. Then I remember it is confusion and You have nothing to do with confusion. But then I think maybe I am at the root of the confusion...and round and round I go.
I hear the news and the economy is so poor. I wonder if it is such a good time to retire. Things are so uncertain and unsure...but then I run into another brick wall...the blades of another propeller that I didn't know was there and I know I can't stay there.
Then there is the thing at church. I know You led me there so I think I am in the right place. I was so satisfied with teaching my SS class. I so enjoyed the study. Granted it is hard to prepare a lesson everyweek...and I felt that sometimes I didn't do a very good job...but I so enjoyed the study. I am not sure I did the right thing taking on the new job and it scares me...I don't like to fail and I am afraid of failure.
I worry about my son and the new baby. Thank you for my new baby boy. I am praying that he is healthy and that my daughter in law stays healthy. I am praying my son will remember what it was like growing up with alcoholic parents and will decide not to drink ever again. I am praying Lord that his heart belongs to You and if it doesn't that You will speak to his heart...when the call comes...I want us all to go home together Lord. That is my prayer.
That's a good part of what is on my mind and in my heart. I know You know the rest. I have trusted You more and more so I am going to have to trust You on all this...I will lay it all on the altar and just follow You. I don't see what else I can do and don't see anything else I want to do.
*** So I came to the cave to gather the quiet for my soul.
Never want to let the world be too much with us...looking always to "a city which hath foundations whose builder and maker is God." Hebrews 11

Sitting here beside you sister, contemplating the coming storm. The wind will not blow, the sky will not darken, but a storm is what there'll be. We won't feel it's effects though. We're sheltered within the cave. We're sheltered in the cleft of the Rock wherein we hide our soul.
It wasn't the nails holding Him to the tree. It was His love, for you and for me. Thank you Jesus. Come get us Lord, and take us Home...

Glad to have the company brother Keith. Noticed I made a mistake...it is Horeb and not Moriah. We are studying Genesis and last Sunday went up Moriah with Abraham and Issac and saw the shadow of Calvary with the Father and Jesus. Both of them together...to the place. Beautiful study...that one.
So Moriah was on my feeble mind...but the cave on Horeb.

In studying for that lesson 2 phrases kept popping out at me so built the whole lesson around those 2 phrases. "They went both of them together" and "the place."
They both mirror exactly what happened in Gethsemine, on the long walk to Calvary, and the agony on the Cross. In those two phrases we can feel the very heart of God.
The faith of Abraham, the surrender of Issac, the love God has for us and the sacrifice of Jesus...
Alot to think about and be thankful for.

And speaking of faith, did you ever notice exactly what Abraham said? "...I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you." (Genesis 22:5 KJV)Dear Abraham had faith they would BOTH be returning. He had faith his Lord would provide a sacrifice in place of Isaac. Oh that we should have as much faith in our own times of trial...

This seems to be a perfect place to end a very good day. We had the day off today and it was beautiful. I got up early because I didn't want to miss a minute of the day. Made a list the night before of things I just wanted to do.We don't get many days like that any more.
The sun was out, birds sang all day long, even heard frogs. Ate lunch out on the deck with my 3 dogs begging for handouts which they got. The wind blew big fluffy white clouds across the sky...remembered foot prints of God. He kicks up clouds like we kick up dust.
I finished working on a chair for the WMU missions auction and started stripping an ole trunk. I found the chair and trunk in the green box just before Christmas and tucked them away for the auction. The trunk is about 75 or so years old and the wooden chair just had pretty lines. So I stripped them both and stained the chair, reworked the bottom and put a colorful pillow in it. Finished stripping the trunk and will finish it this weekend, God willing.
Then on to my truck...love my truck. I washed it and cleaned it and got soaked because I dropped the hose and when it hit the ground it sprayed me good. Took care of my Saturday night bath.
The entire day passed and I didn't talk to another living soul...well 'cept Keith by pm. He shared a good evening with me that he and Nita spent celebrating a birthday and about cranberry bread with cream cheese.
So here I am at the end of a great day...sitting in the Cave on Higher Ground thinking about being thankful for a great day...Thank you Lord, for knowing when a tired ole fowl needs a day off from the world.
It is good to get away from all the white noise in the world and listen to the music of the spheres...this is my Father's world.
I rest me in the thought.
It isn't the spiritual highs nor the dark valleys that we remember. So often it is just a great day that we remember spent talking with the Lord and doing things we enjoy.

Wind is blowing tonight. Makes me think of King David in battle. He had just fought a battle and defeated the Philistines and knew a second was coming. But he waited on the Lord. The next was the Battle of Rephaim.
And the Lord said..."And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines." 2 Samuel 5:24
I have always loved that passage and when I hear the wind and see the tops of the trees moving, I think of that passage, like looking at the stars reminds me of Abraham looking at the sky that night. And God spoke to him...as many as the stars in the heavens, and Abraham was nearing 100 years of age, and childless. Faith...do any of us have that kind of faith?
When I hear the wind and see the tops of the trees moving I can almost see the hosts of the Lord marching out before King David in that battle. Angels moving over the tops of the mulberry trees, in shinning armour, swords drawn.
Tonight when I heard the wind and saw the trees moving against the sky, I couldn't help but think it is almost time.
"And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines."
In the wind I can hear the Lord say..."bestir thyself: for then shall the Lord go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines"...
Amen.

Post Script...
"And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer."

Had some powerful storms last night. Started about 9:30 and went almost to midnight. Like King David we watched the storm approach, coming on all day, closer and closer it got. Took the dogs out about 9:00 and it was picking up speed and raindrops had begun to fall and just a few moments later it fell in torrents pushed by a strong wind.
I had pulled up to the table and had opened my Bible and spent my evening wrestling with the Lord on the river bank...
This morning things seem a little greener and sharper, the air is clear and fresh...
What a day! Robins in the backyard and red birds in the front... Buttercups and redbuds everywhere!
From the cave on Higher Ground Amen.

Hey, wanna know how to draw a crowd and start a fight just about anywhere any time? All you have to do is show up and say one Word...know what it is?
Say it and the next thing you know 2 things will happen. One, it will draw a crowd. Two, it will make about two/thirds of the people there mad at ya.
Doggondest thing, but it will happen every time.
Just makin' some observations From the cave on Higher Ground
Amen.
