Going to do something very sad tomorrow. Going to another funeral. It is difficult to talk about to anyone but the Lord, and I have talked to Him about it since Tuesday.
The son of an old friend committed suicide Monday night. Hung himself...was using cocaine but was able to hide it from his parents. It must have finally gotten to be more than he could handle.
He was 32, an attorney down on the coast, Va. Beach.
His mother is destroyed. Went to visit her Wed. and she was in bed at noon...still in her pajamas. She said she didn't have the will to live anymore. She said she will never see her son again.
I told her what the Bible says...the problem is...I don't think her son was saved.
That is why it is so very sad. I am not sure my friend will see her son again.
So I pray for my friend...and have cried. Her pain is so great and I can't help her. I told her Who can and I hope she will go to Him. "We aren't supposed to be burying our children," was the last thing she said before I left. We are getting old and we need them to bury us.
From a cave on Higher Ground, Amen.

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Oh precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow.
No other fount I know...
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Week started with someone asking a question. Life seems full of them, but this one still has me thinking. I am not the brightest turnip what just fell off the truck, no spring Duck either. I wish I knew half of what others seem to know...at a third of my age.
And then there are some that I envy because they seem to get it so fast and so young. Some of those though, turn out to be shooting stars...flame across the sky and then flame out. Then there are old fowls like me...just catchin' on. Never liked turnips anyway.
Then someone half my age and fully on fire comes along and asks a question.
What was the question asked, you say?
Is the moon full and when is Passover this year?
From the cave on Higher Ground, Amen.

Quiet all around tonight. Just had another little rain and everything looks so green and beautiful. A few days ago I would have thought and the grass needs cuttin'. Doesn't seem so important now.
Have run from the flu all winter. Have washed my hands till they were raw and I thought they were going to flake away. But the flu finally caught me. I had so much on my to do list...long as a roll of toilet paper. This week's to dos, followed by next weeks to dos...followed by a week off with more to dos.
But all came to a dead stop on Thursday when I realized I couldn't go any further. I knew I had the flu on Tuesday but old stubborn Irish wouldn't give up and kept going. Probably made it worse.
But since Thurdays I have done some serious thinking and praying. I have had the time to follow the war that might be unfolding before our eyes in the Middle East. I have had time to read Rosenberg's new book and to listen to some great sermons on CD DB... ;D sent to me.
Have napped and prayed and thought...I have the opportunity to go back to work at some work I did long ago...retire and go to work again. All I have to do is make a phone call and there it is. Monday, God willing, I am going to make that phone call. May work out and may not...maybe where the Spirit is leading maybe not...but I won't know till I try.
Have resolved to follow it out and see where it leads...
Anyway...sometimes we get to going so fast that I think the Lord uses things like the flu to slow us down so we can hear Him...Be still...and know...
So am sitting in the cave this rainy Friday night enjoying the peace and solitude, listening for the humming bird's wings...marveling at God who can play with a dinosaur like a tiny bird...

Monday came and went...was in the hospital...guess that answered that questions.
Anyway,
Have been doing alot of reading and keep coming back to the same question...why isn't the US mentioned in the end time prophecies? The only super-super power in the world today is not mentioned. There could be only two reasons. One is that it is Babylon and the other is that it is no longer there. I have long leaved toward the second of the two.
To me the Bible has proven over and over that it is literal in what it says so I think Babylon is Babylon and we are already seeing it in the beginning stages of being rebuilt...both the country and the city...The US played a major role in that. Handwriting on the wall. God's Hand in the glove of history working right in front of us and yet we don't quite see it till another piece falls into place. The Lord is using the US in mighty ways to set the end times stage...but we will not be a major player.
The second reason is the one I think applies. The Church is the Bride of Christ and Israel is the Bride of Jehovah God. The rapture will remove the church and that will leave Israel standing right in front of God alone. Right where the Bible says she will be. There will be no nation to come to her defense...no one to stand with her.
For that to happen the US has to be gone or at least no longer a power to be reckoned with and the only way for that to happen is atomic attacks...maybe coupled with some natural disasters.
Just rambling...and putting some highly oxygeninated(Sp) thoughts together...Rosenberg's new book ...read it.
very good book. Leaves you with alot to think about.
I go read Hosea now. It is all about Jehovah's Bride...I want to know more.

Thought I would come and sit in the cave for a moment and be thankful. So often we go barreling thru life...and don't really stop to think...to reflect.
I want to retire in Feb. 2009 and have been praying about it. Have been doing the footwork so if I can retire it will be done and if I can't it will still be done.
One of the things I had been asking was for the Lord to help me quit smoking. I knew He could because He is how I lost over 200 pounds. I never could have done that by myself.
Anyway, one of the things that has happened as a result of a recent illness is that I quit smoking...last one was 04-06-08...Amen!
It is certainly not how I expected the Lord to answer my prayer but it is how He answered it...
Lord knows us all so well...He knew exactly what to do and how to get me to quit...literally scare the wits out of me...
It worked!
Praise the Lord! Hallejuah...Life with the Lord is eternal and never dull!
Amen!

Was reading something that DB wrote elsewhere and started to wonder if we all are praying the same prayers to the Lord. One of the things I pray often is "just one more day Lord." That was, in part, the subject of what DB had written.
Have been trying to encourage DB to post some of his writings here and hope that he will. They are often uplifting and convicting all at the same time...very good and thought provoking. Anyway, about the prayer for just one more day to tell about the Lord...
One morning on the way to work I was trapped by a train at the RR crossing in town. It was one of those long trains. Gangs use the boxcars as rolling billboards so I was reading the grafitti spray painted on the boxcars catching up on all the gang news.
right in the middle...came a box car with the same prayer spray painted across the side of the car...Just one more day Lord, just one more day...
From a cave on Higher Ground, Amen.

If it had not been for that "one more day" I would not be able to sing:
" Oh happy day that fixed my choice, on thee my Saviour and my God"
Glory!

No such site exists! That is what the screen said. No such site exists!
Over the years many of us have made friends on MBs...they have become like neighbors next door or down the street, special people.
Judy or Lacehankyandword had the messageboard "Ladies Abiding in Christ" or "Abiding" for short. Judy made the avatar with the dog and duck and gave it to me for Christmas and my birthday some years ago. I sent her strawberry preserves and pickles and the jars broke in transit so when they arrived she had strawberry pickles. So many memories of old friends. Judy lives in Mississippi.
Went to her MB yesterday. Hadn't been to visit for some time. Had been thinking about Judy and decided to go visit Abiding...and it was gone.
I could go in all sorts of directions with that...apply all kinds of Bible verses and teachings. But I am not going to do that, none seem to quite fit.
I prayed to the Lord that Judy would be alright and wondered why she would stop a MB that has been such a comfort and joy to so many for so many years. I first joined back in 1998 or 99. I googled the site to see if there was some mistake and stumbled across a tech site with the answer. It had gotten to be too much for Judy. She said she no longer could give the attention it deserved nor could the other ladies so she wanted to discontinue it.
I am still praying her health is not the reason and plan to call her tonight...
I am sad to see Abiding gone...

What a shame Marilyn, that her site has gone the way so many 'Christian' boards of late. It's like interest has wained. Nevertheless, if you make contact, invite her here...

Hadn't even thought of that Keith...I will most certainly invite her to join us...and thanks...was so focused on her health...she has hepititus. They lost everything in the hurricane. Had to live in a tent while they rebuilt from the ground up. She said living outside had actually improved her health.
do you remember her? most of the time we just called her Lace.
