Here's one about an old sailor looking back on his life lived for Christ, remembering the beauty of God's creation I HAVE SAILED THE SATIN OCEAN At the early hour of daybreak sipping coffee in the shipyard I’m enchanted by the merry morning magic of the bay. In the glory of the new dawn, in it’s rippling and it’s sparkling, gleeful ribbons, silver streaming, seem to pirouetting play on the luxury of azure, on the bounty of the blue bay. Liquid diamonds gleaming mingle on the silken tapestry. How I’m tempted to abandon all my mundane daily duties to the beauty of the moment and some winsome memories. There are blue eyes I remember in the sparkle of the ocean. There is laughter in the frolic of the spray along the shore. There is knowing in the turning page of tidal ebb and flowing, wisdom shining on the surface, reaching secret fathoms more. I have sailed the satin ocean, easy tacking through the twilight. I have dived and lived a lifetime held and cradled by the sea. Now, with empty cup, I pause to think how long I’ve been remembering, and wonder if this wonder could be Heaven calling me.
