2012 promises to continue to be a year filled with fear and trepidation as the world continues a downward spiral of uncertainty. Folk are losing confidence in their country, their politicians, their employers, and even in large measure . . . their churches. Multitudes are simply losing hope. And yet, for the child of God, promises abound in the Word of God which aim to strengthen and arm the Christian to walk confidently with his/her Saviour in the midst of myriad trials.
As we travel through this year together, let us be reminded that the Bible has hundreds of promises for the believer, that we will consider daily and be heartened in our heavenly citizenship. I would pray that this thread will be visited often for the courage and strength that can only come from the mighty "Thus saith the Lord!"
Todays promise is . . .
“Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth” (Psalm 71:20).

“For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks. For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness” (Psalm 18:27, 28 ).

And here is a beautiful promise for soul winners!
“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him” (Psalm 126:5, 6).

“I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11).

“ I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). I sometimes feel like no one thinks any good thought about me; nice to be reminded that I am wrong about that one.

Amen to that, Donna!
“Their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow” (Jeremiah 31:12, 13).
Amidst all the violence in the world, corruption in our government and coldness in churches, God's promises still give us the peace that the world cannot take away!

God promised His support in our trouble . . .
“The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble” (Psalm 9:9).

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah” (Psalm 46:1-3).
