On call last week so had some time to go ramblin in the night. Took a look at Ezekiel from 36-37-to about 39 or so. Most look at the other side...who sides with Russia...
I looked at Israel's allies...I know who I think they might be. Ya'll know? Looks like there will be allies...
Interesting to look at ...
Just some discussion to begin the week...

Could Be... "Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?" Know who they are today? did a little diggin' over the last week...interesting what I learned...good way to keep my mind engaged so I didn't have to think about being on call...

Ezekiel names some nations that oppose or at least will challenge the Russian invasion. Though not all agree it is Russia, I think it is, so will use Russia.
The first is Sheba. What I learned is that it is modern Yemen. Yeman is oil rich and faces the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. It is most often identified with the Sabeans in the Bible. It is thought that the queen of Sheba came from this country when she went to visit King Solomon.
Dedan is the next opposing country. There are two people with that name in the Bible. One is a son of Cush,
"And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan." Genesis 10:7
So a grandson of Ham...
The other is a descendant of Abraham thru Keturah,
"And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim." Genesis 25:3
so a descendant of Shem...
somewhere along the line the descendants of the two Dedans intermarried and eventually settled on the shores of the Persian Gulf and others on the boarders of Edom. It is thought between these two settlements was a thriving caravan trade connecting the Gulf with the land of Canaan.
So Sheba and Dedan appear to be countries in Arabia. Ezekiel's prophecies appear to line up Arabia with the West prior to the Russian invasion of Israel.
Interesting but it gets even more so...

Tarshish...is the third name mentioned. It is to the uttermost parts of the west. Uttermost means as far as you can go. Tarshish is where Jonah tried to run when he was running from going to Nineveh. He wanted to put the width of the world between himself and Nineveh...
"But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD." Jonah 1:3
According to what I read, Tarshish in the Bible is Tartessus in Spain not too far from the Strait of Gibraltar. Tartessus was a Phoenician colony. It was in a string of colonies that stretched as far as Britian. Britian was important for tin. Tin was used to make copper and was worth a fortune in the Eastern markets and the Phonecians had a conner on the market...
Remember your old geography lessons and history lessons...where is it thought the Phenicians traveled to?
There is evidence that they crossed the Atlantic. Traces of their visits to this "island of the sea" have been found...remember that phrase "islands of the sea." We will get back to it.

So then, historical Tarshish appears to have been an maritime country or place of importance. It was linked with Israel and with contacts as far west as the ancient people went.
Here is what Isaiah said,
"Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee. And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee." Isaiah 60:9-10
Isaiah is talking about the regathering of Israel in the last days.
Great Britain played a major role in helping to re-estabolishing Israel as a nation. The United States and President Truman also helped to advance the cause. The United States was the first to reconize Israel as a Nation...about 5 minutes after Israel was declared a Nation...by the UN.

It appears that Tarshish stretched from the mainland of Europe to Britain and most possible to the new world. It is then entirely possible that the prophetic Tarshish does the same.
The expression "Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof..." then would point to Europe and all the former colonies.
By the time all this is going on the Beast will have united Europe and brought the Western Hemisphere also into the alliance. The name Tarshish is probably prophetically the Western world as it looks in the Beasts day.
back to "islands of the sea..."
"And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea." Isaiah 11:11
One of the largest Jewish populations outside of Israel today is in the United States...one of the "young lions"...and..."islands of the sea."
Amen?

Could Be... "Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish... You're right in that they're not part of the coalition that comes against Israel. But I don't know if I'd consider them Israel's 'allies'. I'll explain... Look what they're saying, "Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?"This is nothing more than passive behavior with no 'muscle' behind it. In other words, from the teeth out. Those statements are from namby-pamby girlie-men who don't have the fortitude to step in and take action to support Israel in their time of need. This the same attitude that allowed Hugo Chavez to ascend the podium of the United Nations, within the host country of the United States, and call America's President the Devil to the snickers and applause of the U.N. General Assembly. And what did we do about that? No, not kick him and his over-inflated ego back to Venezuala with orders never to return, we did nothing but shoot off our mouth about how insulted we were. Allies of Israel? No, I wouldn't call those countries allies. They're nothing more than fair-weather friends. I need to get down off my soapbox before I fall...

Hee hee...I think at this point you wouldn't fall off the soapbox...I think maybe it is just gettin' right crowded on that soapbox...and the opponants to action might push you off...like they did James off the penacle of the Temple...to shut him up and shut you up. "Ezekiel names some nations that oppose or at least will challenge the Russian invasion." is what I posted... I have more to say but would be late for Bible Study if I got started. I was putting my emphasis on the identity of the countries named...because there is a link in it possibly to the western hemisphere. So often people look for the US in the prophecies. It is not named but is there among the islands of the sea...we just won't be there. You put your emphasis on the "allies" inaction and motives...interesting. later...

some more notes on Ezekiel 38-39. 38:1-23- We read here of God’s judgment upon ‘Gog from the land of Magog’: ‘When Gog attacks the land of Israel, My hot anger will be aroused... I will execute judgment upon him...’(1,18,22). The names ‘Gog and Magog’are also found in Revelation 20:7-10. There, we read of rebellion against God - ‘They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people...’- and God’s judgment - ‘Fire came down from heaven and consumed them’. In this divine judgment upon ‘Gog and Magog’, we see the Lord’s final triumph over ‘Satan’: ‘The devil who had deceived Gog and Magog was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur’to be ‘tormented day and night for ever and ever’. ‘Hallelujah! Our Lord God Almighty reigns’(Revelation 19:6). 39:1-29- Gog’s defeat points forward to Satan’s final defeat (1-6; Revelation 20:10). We look ahead to God’s final victory over Satan. While we’re here on earth, we must never forget that Satan is a very powerful enemy. He will do all that he can to make us sin against the Lord. We see this in the life of God’s people, Israel. They allowed Satan to get the upper hand - and God was not pleased with them: ‘The nations shall know that the people of Israel went into captivity for their sin, because they were unfaithful to Me’(23). God’s Word assures us that - even when Satan has gained the upper hand - , we can be ‘brought back’to the place of blessing. God will ‘have mercy’on us. He will ‘pour out His Spirit’upon us (25,29). ‘Restore us, O God...’(Psalm 85:4).
