Ya'll ever had pork brains fried with eggs? Nope, always calf brains...and with scrambled eggs, toast and jelly and a bunch of coffee! That was a delicacy for my father-in-law and me. He was a professional cook and a brain/egg breakfast was for a special occasion. He'd have a project at the farm he'd need help with, so I'd show up early on a weekend morning and we'd begin with a big breakfast before the project. Nita and her Mom didn't want any...couldn't stomach it. I'll always have fond memories of those days, 'cause they belonged just to me and Pop.

I'm sorry I must have missed something...but what is Nutria? I've been waiting for someone to ask! It is a breed of rat. Sorry Keifer, but cooked brains fall in the "yuck" category. All of this talk about gross food made me think of the rat recipe; and this recipe is rat rear end, especially gross.

"For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly."
When I was yet without strength.. wandering around in this wretched world seeking the fullfillment of the flesh and the pleasures and the thrills it has to offer the poor sinner, there was always that empty space that nothing could fill nor satisfy. The activities, hobbies, and intake of the eyes could never ever seem to come close to making me feel content.
I remember hearing for the first time a man preach the Gospel while filled with the Holy Ghost. Every word seemed to be directed at me. I felt so weak, angry, and offensive at the same time. There was nothing I could do at the time in my own ability to supress the reaction that took place in my soul to the glorious sound of the message of the Lord Jesus.
"..without..strength.." - sapped of all avenues of retreat, I reckon I found a place to "store" what I was going through. I always thought that the scum of society was in the definition of the "ungodly". The blessed Holy Spirit cut the light on and let me see that - I - was that ungodly sinner whom the Lamb of God died for and not for me only , but for the whole world.
Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift - the precious Lord Jesus, who allowed me through His wonderful patience and grace to hear those wonderful words of life. Now I am saved to the uttermost with the authority of God's word, washed on the blood of the Lamb, as sure for heaven and the prescence of Jesus as if I was there now. As the voice of the Creator spoke and things were created so my soul is the more secure in His love and gift of Salvation. Thank You Jesus!
...while I was without strength, Christ died for me, the ungodly.......

How true it is, brother DB.
The day of our salvation is as if everything around us has stopped and we feel to be truly in the presence of the Lord Himself. Our wicked past is so fully exposed that the only place we can see ourself is in the depths of hell itself . . . and knowing that we deserve it.
but then . . . it seemed as if a silent voice spoke to me in that moment and said - yes, this is where you will be, but it doesn't have to be. This moment you can come unto me and you will be free . . . from the stain and the filth of your past and you can have your long yearned for "second chance!"
Yep, that is what it seemed like to me - how many times as kids we beg our parents for "another chance" right after they've caught us dead to rights. Sometimes we would get one.
Well, God gave me a permanent one.
Wonderful testimony, DB!
